Tuesday Has No Phones

Today is cold, dark, and rainy. Which means I'm utterly adoring the weather but pretty much nobody can think. A frequent topic of conversation at work today was how no one could focus or think or anything. Topic two was commenting on the noise of the demolition going on to make way for the new office.

I ruled the world of Excel today and got a job done that had been expected to take a week in, if you subtract the time I took for lunch, half a day. I RULE!

Sadly my life now sucks because I'm on task #2 which is even more tedious and dull and if it only takes a week I'll be lucky.

I swear I could curl up and go to sleep right now, except for how there's a redhead who wants to keep her hedgehog.

...that last bit's only going to make sense to some of you.

You've probably heard this already but it's made of so much awesome I have to share. Basically there was this Firefly convention out in CA that got cancelled at literally the last minute - like people showed up to the hotel and found out there was no con last minute. There's all sorts of WTF and people trying to figure out what the hell happened, and so far things do not look wholly positive for the folks who put the con together.

However, apparently upon finding out that some dedicated Browncoats got screwed and screwed hard, a herd of Firefly actors, including Adam, Nathan, and Allen, showed up at the hotel to say hi to everyone, hang out, give autographs, take pictures, and even give some of their personal souvenirs of the show away.

I've got no segue from that to my life except to say that we're talking about me now. And I'm doing pretty okay. I am most pleased with myself because last night I finished knitting a sock! It is but a weetiny sock, but it is a sock true and proper and I knit it all by myself! This is a huge accomplishment for me, except for the part where the sock is small, but symbolically it's huge and is now paving the way for me to knit sock-sized socks in the future. I shall start that today.

(And yes, there will eventually be pictures up on the craft blog. I also need to upload pictures of my Thanksgiving cupcakes. One of these years...)

Other than casting on for a new sock, today's plans include laundry and some cleaning, and then going out to dinner.

And related to nothing at all, does anyone know where I could get my hands on a Peter Petrelli mood theme? Or would be willing to make me one as a pressie?

For the... somethingth day in a row I've woken up feeling sick to my stomach.

So either the bug that got me last week is still with me, or I'm pregnant.

The latter option would be kind of interesting as, to my knowledge, I haven't been around any sperm for, sadly, quite a while.

OTOH I could be carrying the Second Coming.

Stupid boss was supposed to be out all day today. He changed that. This is most annoying as normally I get one day a month to do all the things I have to do that are infinitely easier when he's not around, and today was supposed to be that day. With him here? Micromanagement all. The. Way. *headdesk*

Why can't we tell our employers that really they can best help us by setting the table?

Looks like there's a few of us who'd be up for a blue and gold along. Once I have some brainpower (read: not today) I'll try to set up a blog for it.

Yay crafty geek pride!

I have too much hair. I'm going to attempt to fix this today by getting a hair cut. Possibly more than one hair cut. Maybe get a whole bunch of them to meet up with scissors and see how that goes.

Also on today's agenda is stopping by the library, grocery shopping, and then maybe a couple of more places depending on how I feel.

Health-wise I'm staring at yet another downspiral. ( Some nattering about that, feel free to skip ) Anyway, point being I mention all of this now just so people can understand why I might be going quiet on LJ and email again.

On the upside, I was able to make it to belly dance last night. My teacher used me as a good example on a couple of occasions, so yes my ego is large and fine, thank you for asking.

In geekier news: Fandom High has opened enrollment for summer session. Go. Join. Sign your life away! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

You know what Fandom High needs? School colors. I say this for the good of school spirt. And also because I'm nerdy enough to want to knit Fandom High scarves which I could then wear in public and thus cause random people to shout "YOU ARE BRAVE LIKE SOLDIER!" and I could reply "DRAWN FROM THE WEEDS!!" and then we'd do the secret boykissy hand gesture and nod knowingly to ourselves.

I need more belly dance and knitting icons. Hmmm.

I have been falling asleep at almost every available opportunity. I'd blame this on ZOMG I WAS NOT CRYING a poor sleep schedule except I've been going to bed at a reasonable hour (...comparatively speaking). My current suspicion is that this might be a med side effect.

Having caught up on a few eps of Bones again I can say this: The Booth/Brennan chemistry isn't quite as forced, but I'd still rather see Booth with Angela. Also Brennan could be shoved into the background for the Booth/Lab Squints show and the overall quality would improve about a thousandfold.

Having watched Veronica Mars last night, I can say this: ( cut for mild spoilers )

There's only a few of you who understood what I meant there, but that's okay.

Now how soon can I snuggle back up under the covers again?
