thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (being domestic)
So yesterday was a day of being agressively productive. Plants were bought and planted on my back porch. I also reclaimed a small patch of dirt near the back porch which hadn't been given love in some time. This involved digging it up, redoing the brick border, and putting some flowers in. No clue if anything I did will help, but at least I tried.

I also got a Ravelry account yesterday and it is THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. Sadly apparently you cant see specific accounts right now without an account of your own, but one assumes that'll go away once they get past the beta testing. Anyway I put in info about what FOs and WIPs that I could, and I'll add more with my stash and so on as I can.

Today I have a mild headache, but even so I'm going to go out for some shopping (must get SPICES) and a pedicure. And then nothing but relaxing all the rest of the day.

Of course currently I have a fluffy kitty curled up in my lap, and she feels I really shouldn't be going anywhere at all thank you. So kitty snuggling first, then errands.

ETA: Only 8 days left to sponsor me for my walk for the Bennett Cancer Center!

My craft blog has been updated with - wait for it - a SEWING PROJECT.

I'm just as stunned about it as you are.

(Also, as long as I'm posting links and since some people asked for reminders, there's still time to donate to help sponsor me in my walk for the Bennett Cancer Center. Save the cancer center, save the world! NO I AM NOT TIRED OF THAT JOKE YET!)

I've been quite productive this weekend. Cleaning has been done. Laundry has been done. I got to use my brand-new, collapsable laundry basket and I quite adore it. The laundry has been hung up to dry in my bedroom again. It's funny in that it takes longer for me to hang laundry up to dry than it does for me to fling it into the dryer, but I can still be lickety-split with the laundry itself since I'm not trapped waiting for a dryer cycle to finish.

I hooked my digital camera up to my laptop, which has allowed me to update my craft blog with pictures. Not, yanno, recent pictures, but pictures never the less.

Brunch today was the first crepes of the season. I also put my shovel and deicing salt away. I realize that both of these activities raise the likelihood that we'll have a sudden onset of snow but as y'all know I am more than prepared to live with that.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Are you on the list?)
Updated the craft blog with word of my adventures in rubber stamping. 'twas fun, and something I wouldn't mind trying again.

My boss being gone this week means that I have the week off. There's lots I'd like to do but we'll see how far I get once all is said and done.

Healthwise I'm not so hot. The up news is that I've got that doc's appt tomorrow so hopefully better progress can be made. In the meanwhile I'm trying to do what I can to relax today while still doing the things that need to be done. As for example, doing laundry b/c otherwise I won't have clothes to wear for the aforementioned appointment with the doctor.

'course the real temptation is to go back to bed until it's tomorrow afternoon. But sadly that's not so much of an option.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (woman knitting)
I am on my couch with my laptop in my lap and two kitties curled up in contented balls of contentment on either side of me. It is physically impossible to be unhappy under these circumstances.

I updated my craft blog for the first time in a billion years. There are even pictures, ooooooo!

Late breaking update: Luna is now not only curled up beside me but purring. Far, far too cute.

So with the new year I'm trying new methods of organization and handling things, cut as I natter on about health and adapting )

In other, totally unrelated, news I am officially on board the SPN train now. Though my mom gets the toaster oven for this since she's been trying to pimp me into it the longest. ;)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (cooking)
I've often been asked for cheesecake photos in my LJ. So, okay, here ya go:

Say cheese! )

A picture of that shall go up on ye olde craft blog along with some WIP pics of the scarf I'm currently knitting.

Amazingly enough, BGAL has been updated! I've given it a start date of June 1, and you can check the blog itself for the skinny.

There is also a [livejournal.com profile] bgalfeed for those who'd like to read posts through your flist.

Finally, I made cheesecake! It won't be done or eaten until tomorrow, but it's gotten through the first half of prep okay. Though I've made cheesecake brownies and cookies before, this is the first time I've done cheesecake cake. I'm hoping it turns out good. In theory it should, as it's got chocolate chunks and oreos in it.

I got to smash oreos with a mallet. That was fun. :D

Call me insane but my weekend brunch of choice lately has been proper oatmeal with a nice cuppa and an apple. Given that the weather is only getting warmer I have no idea why my body is craving such warm, stick to the ribs kind of food, but it's healthy so who am I to complain?

Yesterday was hit by insano migraine of DOOM which necessitated me leaving work early. On the upside my boss was out of town. On the downside I couldn't get all the things done that I wanted to that are so much easier when he's out of town. I'd kinda been hoping to take this Thursday off b/c he's taking it off, but now I think I'll have to go in for my own sanity.

Today I shall go do the shopping I couldn't get done yesterday because of the migraine. I'm going to attempt to make a cheesecake for Mother's Day/my parents' anniversary, which are Sunday and Monday respectively. (...I think. I'm *really* bad about remembering when their anniversary is).

And because I do so love to shoot the moon on these things, I'm also hoping to do some updates to the craft blog and BGAL.

I updated the craft blog for thems who are interested in such things. Today's installment includes - wait for it - the zill holder! SHOCK!

I also took about a two and a half hour nap today.

I'm calling both of those activities necessary, and 100% productive on my part.

And the best thing? I'm still not at work.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Seasonal)
It was warm here in the land of Siam, which is possibly why I ended up staying in bed until it was afternoon, even though I got to sleep on time. Either that or the meds are making me drowsy again.

Once up I made proper oatmeal, proper tea, and enjoyed it with an english muffin and an apple. I was going to do more cooking today since, as I've mentioned, I actually want to eat now. But scheduling worked out otherwise and I ended up getting some shopping done instead.

Back home, I was then treated to a blackout. Electrical, not alcohol related. Thanks to my Blackberry I was able to email some folks I needed to, then I was offline for a few hours. It was actually nice because there was enough sunlight to read by, so I got caught up on some of my magazines.

I then went out for ice cream and the power eventually came back on.

All of which is to say this is why I've not updated the craft blog yet, nor done anything for BGAL like I promised. My guilt, she knows no bounds.

Anyhoo, will try to do some of that tomorrow. I've also got many thoughts on Texas Ranch House, mostly of the "ARGH! You IDIOT!" variety to be aimed towards the Cookie family. But see also: tired and sleepy, possibly due to heat, possibly to meds.

So off I go to rest.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (strippers)
Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] lucifrix!!!! Ours is a friendship that dates back to when Dennis Miller was sane. That is a love that has lasted the ages, people!

Will update the craft blog sometime today, methinks. I've also got such a jones to knit stuff. What's nice is that I have stuff to knit, so this all works out well really. I shall also do more stuff for BGAL now that I have the brainpower to do it. You have no idea how much those side effects were kicking my ass earlier this week. ZOMG.

Also! I'm hungry! Actual desire to eat food! I'm going to celebrate this continued trend by going to my fav. sandwich place and treating myself to a way overpriced but so worth it turkey sammich for lunch. Yay!
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (knit bunny)
Here's what I've got for my day:

1) Jambalaya in the crock pot
2) Knitting to work on
3) Elizabeth on the Tivo
4) Living Dolls on the Tivo
5) A weetiny vampire

I could not be more content if I tried.

Also! In more productive news I have officially poked and prodded the BGAL blog to the point of being content enough with it to start making it public. So if you're interested in joining the Blue and Gold Along head on over here. That's where you can find all the info you need like how to sign in, what to do first, and just WTF is a blue and gold along anyway (just in case you missed a mention of it earlier).

For right now let's just focus on getting everybody set up with accounts and posting access. After which we can work on getting BGAL itself started.

Whee!

Now to go catch up on my flist, nap, watch Tivo, and knit. Possibly all at the same time. I'm just that good.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Remember what I am)
So after yet another day of the dizzys and the urpys I decided the shimmys would not be happening. Skipped dance class so I could stay home like a staying home thing. The upside is I'm done with this month's round of meds, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll have an uptick as the side effects subside.

Which would be nice because I'm starting to miss food. The weather's getting warmer and veggies are coming back in season. I want big salads! I want raw stuff! I want color! I want to look at a plate full of yummy food with layers and spices and go yum! and not ick! I want to do more cooking, darn it!

Ah well. At least I have tomorrow off. Working Saturday, but that's the price you pay.

I put together a test blog for the blue and gold along. Still ironing out the kinks, so won't give out the URL until it's ready. I hope this one works though because it's pretty (yes, I'm shallow).

Tonight will be resting, catching up on Tivo, updating the craft blog, and possibly knitting.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Ooh! Me!)
Since the feed works on a time delay, here's a heads up that I updated my craft blog with some questions about the blue and gold along.

Feedback, suggestions, etc. over there would be appreciated =)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (WTF Internets?)
Know what's not condusive to sleep? Flaily vampires.

(No, you don't need to understand that if you don't understand it.)

Stupid boss was supposed to be out all day today. He changed that. This is most annoying as normally I get one day a month to do all the things I have to do that are infinitely easier when he's not around, and today was supposed to be that day. With him here? Micromanagement all. The. Way. *headdesk*

Why can't we tell our employers that really they can best help us by setting the table?

Looks like there's a few of us who'd be up for a blue and gold along. Once I have some brainpower (read: not today) I'll try to set up a blog for it.

Yay crafty geek pride!
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Ooh! Me!)
So, you know, it's not enough for me to think about joining a knitalong. Ohhhhhhhh no. I gotta think about starting one.

*headdesk*

So, ahem. If any of you crafty folks (knit, crochet, whatever) might be interested in a blue and gold (FH folks - yes that) along, could you check in here and lemme know?

Or tell me horror stories about running KALs to talk me out of this?

ETA for those who don't know: A knitalong is basically a group of online folks who are all working on the same type of project at the same time, and posting about their progress to a blog. So it's sort of like an online stitch n bitch, only with a theme. Very often it's people all working on a single pattern (so they can answer each other's questions and offer moral support) othertimes it's folks using the KAL for inspiration on what to make.

Here's a listing of other knitalongs going on right now to give you an idea.

So a blue and gold KAL would be one where people could knit (or crochet or whatever) projects that involve the colors blue and gold in some way.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (gives eyebrow)
*looks around suspicously* I'm... not exactly sick to my stomach today.

*looks around some more*

Clearly this is a setup for something. There's a shoe just waiting to drop! You can't fool me!

(ZOMG so having Mexican for dinner if I can actually eat tonight)

Posted pics of the finished scarf to my craft blog. Should I tell y'all that? I'm still figuring this out. So far it looks like bare minimum the blog will be used for more detail on my crafty projects, but I don't know if I should keep posting notes here about updates or assume that anyone who cares has also friended the [livejournal.com profile] craftbq feed.

Have also decided to help my dad with his blog, so now anybody who signed up to help with the beta-reading of that will be beta-reading my stuff which is going to be based on his ideas. Still figuring out the practicalities of how the beta-ing will get done though. Further bulletins on that as I have them.

New blog!

In an effort to educate myself on the care and feeding of non-LJ style blogs, I have created a brand new blog for myself:

CrafTBQ. (With LJ syndication feed to be found here.)

The blog won't be replacing this LJ. Instead it's a supplimental one for me to play around with, and blather on about knitting, crochet, and yadda yadda. (Which, uh, I'll still be doing here too, but over there will have more details. Or something. I'm still figuring this out.)

Enabling me with this new toy is highly encouraged. =)
