You know what's a great feeling? When you wake up and look at the clock and go "OMG! I am so totally late for work!" and then, seconds later, go "Wait, I don't have work today!" and then you roll over and go back to sleep. That is a great feeling.

My weekend so far is rainy, which I don't mind, except that I want to put my Xmas decorations away so hopefully it won't be so wet outside that carting cardboard boxes back and forth from my apt to my storage unit won't be an exercise in futility. In an hour I'll be going to the eye doctor to have her check on my new contact prescription (which I've discovered I'm not fond of, as it makes reading very difficult) and then it's back home to take the decorations down and hopefully get some writing done.

The current list of fannish things to do is overfull, at the moment. I am now finding my original hope of trying to knock out a charity fic a day to have been very quaint and amusing on my part. Luckily it would seem that nobody else is trying to keep to that kind of schedule, plus those who donated have been very kind and patient, so this is me giving them a public thank you for that. FWIW I can promise that if I'm not working on a charity fic, it's because I'm caught up in [livejournal.com profile] ats_nolimits stuff, which is currently working at a speed factor of 11 as we try to get things ready and finalized to pick up again after our winter break (look for announcements about the upcoming schedule to be posted hopefully at the end of this weekend). I tell ya, if there's this much work when all we've got is writers and editors to wrangle, I do not envy people who do actual shows with actors, directors, costumes that need to be made, sets designed, locations scouted, etc.

In more personal and non-fannish news, depending on the schedule I may be having a very stressful meeting tomorrow ([livejournal.com profile] stakebait knows what I'm talking about. It'd be about that nervous breakdown inducing thing I got your opinion on when we were chatting on the phone). Which I mention here just in case stress and/or worry and/or nerves about that make me head for the hills, or at least go hide under my bed.

Oh, and, Wolf? Turns out I can't do 24 with you tomorrow because a family thing that was originally scheduled for tonight got moved to tomorrow, because my Older Brother is a big, fat, poopy-head. So we'll just have to confab in email later.

Now to get ready for the eye doctor! Excitement iz me!

Did I hear right? 24 and Angel aren't showing new eps for all of March?

That wouldn't be starting next week, would it? Not that "I'll be in England and relying on my Tivo" girl would have a preference on this, or anything.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (cooking)
Thanks to the magic of TiVo I've got 24 on pause right now. I started watching it as it aired then realized the wisdom of giving myself a little leeway time so I could fast foward through anything too painful to watch. Like Kim. ;)

Once 24 is over it's a hot shower and then I'm going to bed. Screw this tired shit.

Tonight I had some new recipes that I wanted to try, and what with being tired and all I wavered between attempting that and just ordering something in. Then as I left work it started to snow, and if that's not a sign from above that I needed to be BBQing I don't know what is.

(For the record the new marinade I tried was okay but not great. Still, it's a change of pace.)

I keep debating the Trust Me thing (for those who for some reason don't memorize the transcripts of my internal dialogues, the debate is on single, albeit long, story vs. series). As I see the original point where "The End" was going to go I find myself debating it more and more, and if this was really a story about that end or about getting the characters to that place and then seeing what they did with it. Still not sure yet, but there we are.

Either way I'd be writing boysex now if only I'd gotten a good night's sleep. The lack of a good night's sleep was only partially my fault, btw.

Finally, in happy news, come this March I shall be eating at Fifteen, aka Jamie Oliver's restaurant, thanks to the most marvey [livejournal.com profile] cin1607 who snagged us reservations. I keep wondering if I should order things I've never had or at least try one or two recipes that I've made myself just to taste the difference ;)

(Also, for thems who are interested, Cin's computer is currently pushing up the daises so anybody wanting to chat with her might want to try a phone, or even smoke signals)

And with that I bid you adieu for the evening.

(PS Is it possible to watch an episode of West Wing without crying or am I just that much of a chick? Just checking. Also for the record I now know why everybody hated that one woman in s1 with the brillo hair. For weeks now I've been wondering why every FAQ I could find followed her name with "We hate her". I wonder no more.)

(Going away now, really)

(poof)

Sleep last night? Almost non-existant. I have no idea why. So today finds a very tired and cranky TBQ attempting to get through the day. I suspect tonight is going to be an early bedtime.

Not sure if there's a new 24 tonight, but I'm very happy for TiVo ;)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (addict jack)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

No! NonononononononononononononononoNO! No! I am not writing Jack/Salazar! I am NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT! I don't care how big your bunny eyes are. All my self-indulgent mischaracterized masturbatory kinks are in Pet and that's IT! One kinkfic at a time! Period! End of discussion!

So THERE. kthxDIE!

*cough*

How's with all of you?
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (BFF)
/me smooches [livejournal.com profile] researchminion Why thank you, sweetie! My user pics and I appreciate it =)

In other news of the me:

Killer headache last night thanks to the weather. You know it's not good when I'm in bed by 8pm. At least it's gone now. If I was supposed to email/chat/tag with anyone last night and skipped out I'm sorry. It totally slipped my mind =/

Speaking of chatting, [livejournal.com profile] wolfling? You up for trying to chat while watching 24 tonight?

Did the first round of shopping for Thanksgiving last night. Man is it a catch-22 doing stuff with fresh ingredients. On the one hand, fresh ingredients. On the other, you have to shop Thanksgiving week.

Even with me doing it after I got off at work at 7:30 there was still a bit of a panicky crowd. And this at the Super Stop & Shop which isn't bound to run out of anything anytime soon. Unfortunately due to the headache I was only able to grab a few things (I wouldn't have gone at all except the cats were totally out of food) but I'm not looking forward to the A&P tonight. On the plus side once that's done it's done and I can focus on the actual cooking of food.

Well - cooking of food and cleaning of house, the latter of which I'm not looking forward to but oh well. At least there's one positive part about no new Angel this week. Gives me plenty of time to actually rediscover my dining room table and get it ready for Thurs.

Still and all I'm excited. You know me and cooking =)

Okay gang, there's a new community titled, very originally, [livejournal.com profile] fansof24. I haven't had time to do any work with it yet in terms of making it pretty or whatever since Angel's coming on soon, but I figured I could at least take a second to get it up and running.

Currently I went through and added the LJ names of everybody who posted earlier saying they'd be interested in a community like that. Those of you who posted should be getting an email asking if you want to join.

I've got the community closed right now b/c I'd like to cut down on the random people who might stop by and troll the place but my oh so elitist way of screening people is that basically you just need to ask if you can join. So by all means feel free to post in your LJs pimping the place. Just direct people over to this post so they can reply and ask to be added. =)

ETA: In theory you should get an email when I add you so I won't spam you guys by also replying here to let you know you've been added. I will add anyone here who asks but when I'm at work I might not be able to get to it right away. If half a day goes by and you haven't been added yet, feel free to bug me again to make sure I didn't accidentally overlook you. Thanks!

There are psychadelic witches embedded in the asphalt outside of my co-op complex. Freaky.

(with a cookie in it for anyone who knows my subreferences)

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] anniesj and I were talking about possibly making a community for those of us around here who are watching 24 and looking for people to talk to. I'm thinking what would work is a small community of some kind where it's not open to any yahoos who want to come along and start flamewars or whatever, but rather a single place for everybody out there that we've been seeing on our friends lists going "So I've been watching 24 and am I the only one?" to have one-stop shopping for people to talk to.

Is anybody out there interested? If so lemme know. I might try to get around to putting the community together tonight so I'd love to know who to add. =)
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (spikeonangel)
I've noticed various people on my friends list posting about 24. Yay! Come, sit by me and enjoy the wonderfullness. Keifer is sexy, and he's banging the President. 8)

I happened to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls last night. Cut in case opinions are spoilery )

Then we move on to Angel stuff and I'm going to try to avoid spoilers here cut for those who are tired of people ranting about the show )

That being said, I'm modifying my safe word list. There are certain discussions that are driving me up a wall and while I respect and support people's rights to have said discussions in their own journals I don't want 'em in mine. Granted this list is subject to change at any time, but here it is now:

1) Spike is stealing Wes's screen time (an oldie but still a goodie)
2) Anyone bitching at me for daring to suggest that perhaps the sun does not shine out of Spike's ass
3) The "mindwipe" and how it ruined the show/totally destroyed Wesley's character/erased everything that's happened on Angel including but not limited to the very first scene of Angel pretending to be drunk in a bar back in 1.1
4) Other points of self-induced panic to be determined later.

Keep this stuff away from me and we'll have a happier TBQ. I may not be able to lower your stress levels, but Lord knows I can be proactive about lowering mine. Thanks!

Older Brother and I both watch 24 and email each other about it. Here's my comments to him for whatever they're worth.

Also note that I'm pretty much a spoiler virgin for 24, so if anybody out there knows anything please don't tell me. =)

Tonight's ep of 24, ep spoilers only )

Premiere of 24 tonight! Woooo!!

It's weird seeing my nights pan out now that we're into the new fall season and there's new schedules for both TV watching and various other stuff. Plus fall is my absolute favorite season so I get all squirmy and excited thinking about cooler weather and holidays coming up and all sorts of fun stuff like that there.

The siren song of cooking beckons and I think this weekend I might attempt to make French onion soup in ye olde slow cooker. I'm looking forward to this as I have been on the prowl for a good bowl of French onion soup for just over 2 years now. The last good bowl I had was in a restaurant somewhere near Stella, back when I was in Germany for Mouse's Christening. It was, hands down, the best bowl of French onion or any soup that I have ever eaten, which was wonderful in the "better to have loved and lost" sense but not so much in the "great, now I'm spoiled for French Onion soup for the rest of my damn life because what are the odds of me both going back to Stella and being able to find that restaurant again?" sense. I have no idea if this weekend's attempt will in any way measure up to the memory, but at least this way I can start to exert a little more control over the process. Perchance the days of weak broth and soggy bread are over.

Either that or I just need to get back to Germany one of these years. Shame that I'm pretty certain Annika needs to be Christened here thanks to P-sis's need to get a green card. Nothing like having somebody else pay for your ticket because it's a family event. Plus it was cool staying with P-sis's family. Which is kind of funny considering how often my mostly Italian in behavior family clashes with P's German behavior. Lord knows we've had some culture shocks in the past. Though I doubt anything will match the the one weekend after Christmas P-sis thought she could be helpful and efficient by pointing out that there were enough leftovers from Christmas dinner that Grandma didn't have to cook, which naturally made my Italian grandmother have a heart attack at the idea that nobody wanted her cooking. Luckily my family is composed of big eaters (again: Italian) and it mostly worked out.

Sigh. I wish it was the holidays already. I'm jonesing to cook. Can you tell?

Grrr

I stand corrected. Obviously one can have a full day after finding out that last month's car payment, though done on time, got screwed up somehow so it was only half of what it should have been and thus made the bank understandably albeit unsympathetically cranky. This now leaves me wondering if it was just the car payment which got screwed up (and if so how) or if something else recieved the payment the car company was supposed to.

Ah, the joy of having all of last month's data on my old computer, which is in storage. "I don't need to back that up," I said, "because my account is balanced as of right now. I can just start fresh with the current amount in the bank and go from there."

Siiiiiiiigh.

Clearly what needs to be done now is overdose on I Love the 80s Strikes Back.

ETA: Dude, is that Robin Wood on s3 24? Man, I guess the tradition continues, even if only on a technicality. (::waves to [livejournal.com profile] wolfling::)

So last night I decide to treat myself to shrimp with angel hair pasta, a little butter and some parmesan for dinner. I have all the ingredients, this should be easy I figure.

Except I didn't check my collandar before dumping the pasta in (I don't normally cook angel hair, hence why this has been languishing on my shelf) and half the pasta promptly slips out through the cracks, leaving me to juggle this mess and the frozen shrimp that did not defrost in 10 min in spite of me following the directions as it promised. All with 10 min until Buffy came on.

I am not the slickest member of our society, I'll be the first to admit.

I did watch Buffy though. What can I say? It was an episode. Some good bits, some bad bits. I don't really care enough to do full commentary,so I'll just do some quick comments instead, ep spoilers only )

I also watched 24 and loved every bit of it, though I continue to wonder how Kim manages to dress herself in the morning. And I maintain my belief in Jack/Palmer - theirloveissopatriotic.

Angel tonight. It will rock. I can't promise I'll be coherent after.

And, finally, I got a signed Lilah card in the mail thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zyre! Cool! Must find a frame for it so that it can go on my wall of sexy people. Thanks z!

Stupid weather. Stupid weather headache. Why must it thwart me so?

In other news 24 kicked major ass and I'm in a happy Angel place thanks to those who include me in the right filters. Mmm... Angel.
