Birthday!

thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (AW Xmas)
Yes, the rumors are true. Today is my birthday. I am 30 years old which, as you all know, means that not only am I an adult, but I am now officially the boss of all of you. I promise to be firm, but fair. Also I'll try to up the nudity quotient. Gotta have the carrot to go with the stick, after all.

The birthday wishes and gifts both virtual and otherwise were most kind. I had to work today and then do various birthday related things so I don't know if I was able to get to everybody and say thank you. If I missed you, my sincere apologies and my thanks for the kind wishes now =)

All told by far the most popular gift was various forms of Angel/Wes or David/Alexis, both clothed and otherwise. I'd say I now possess more virtual versions of them than I know what to do with, but I think we all know that number simply does not exist.

Dorking out for a moment (no comments from the peanut gallery), I'd like to say thanks for the birthday and/or winter holiday of your choice gift from somebody who did not include their net name, but who sent me a book and whose RL initials are CO. Also I must give mad, major props to [livejournal.com profile] tarar who created the DVD extra: interview with the cast on the making of "Strategy" which rocks like a rocking thing sitting on top of a stereo of rocking things.

Also I would like to thank Mac, who at just a little past midnight last night came trotting into my bedroom and presented me with a toy mouse. I had no idea he could even read calendars, but then again he's always been very smart.

Yay birthday!
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (holy fuck me)
Man I am so late for bed. But I did it! Strategy, complete with DVD style comments.

I hope you like. =)

Days off are a good thing. Contrasting this by working on Saturday kind of sucks, but still days off are good.

I'm glad people enjoyed the last installment of Pet. I feel a need to warn people that not all the subsequent parts will be that porny. (Or perhaps reassure the people who worried about the happy developing relationship between Wes and Spike falling to the wayside). Not that the porn will be forgotten of course. I mean you know me. I porn things. But since Pet is a kinkapalooza it's going to hit some kinks that actually require the boys keeping their clothes on. I know. I'm weird that way.

Today's writing assignment will be doing the DVD commentary on Strategy, since that was the one most people asked for. Should be interesting as that thing is huge. But I'll do my best. If there's anything in particular you'd like me to touch on let me know.

At some point I shall also be attacking that rather intimidating stack of bills on my desk. This drives me nuts as it's not that I don't have the money to pay them. I just get forgetful about doing it. Classic "Eh, I can do it tomorrow" itis. I think I may finally set up regular bill paying for the ones that never change in amount. I keep not doing that because I have to deposit my checks so I figure if I'm late one week that'll throw the whole system out of whack, but I guess I'll just have to discipline myself.

Boy does that sound kinky. And possibly very dull. From porn to my paperwork! The amazing adventures of TBQ!

I may also attempt to (finally) set up my scanner. We shall see.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (pet)
Okay, I'm up, I'm avoiding housework, I've just had a big breakfast of pancakes, I'm feeling meta. Let's get into it:

Wherein TBQ talks about indulgence fics, why we write them, why we like them, and other sorts of things. She does not, however, promise coherency. )

Bet you thought I forgot about this, huh? You can't say mild cases of dehydration don't have their side benefits. Such as free time to write.

Strategy, Part Sixteen. In which we finally get the Epilogue, the sex, and our story draws to a close )

Ta da!

Got my BoD fic done. On time and everything. Cough. Suffice it to say I was finally able to do something that both clicked for me and was, I hope, good enough for the person I was doing it for, b/c I really wanted to do a good job there.

And now I am free! Ish! At least freer than I was before when I had that deadline coming closer. Cleaned house, tended plants (there are more tomatoes!) am still making dinner. Am constantly distracted by the addiction that is [livejournal.com profile] btvsatsrpsrpg. [livejournal.com profile] butterfly needs to be chained to her keyboard in order to satisfy my cravings, [livejournal.com profile] glosseth is the @#$%ing POO and I do not use that compliment lightly. Everybody else cracks me the fuck up and I can't stand it. What's even funnier is we've got all these new people and I don't even know who anyone is anymore! Ah, silly fun. And it's all [livejournal.com profile] kita0610's fault. Heh heh.

I've got character questions to answer and another part of Strategy to write, but the boss will be out of the office tomorrow, barring unforseen emergencies, so I think I'll take the rest of the night off in terms of obligations (cough other than the RPSRPG cough) and get to those in the morning. =)

Yay productive Sundays!
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (angel)
Yep, I lied again. There's at least one more part after this. I am seriously bad on judging these things, lemme tell ya. Anyway...

Strategy, Part 15, where reality shifts, there's still more comfort, and Angel and Wes deal with some practicalities )
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (angel)
Okay so I lied. I checked the page count on this and I realized it was getting up there so, say hello to part 14, the new possibly next-to-last part. In other words there's at least one more part after this. Hope you guys don't mind ;)

Strategy Part 14, wherein we pick up not long after Angel rescues Wes, and the vague thought of comfort starts to sneak in amongst all this hurt )
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (Pensive)
Okay, back home after a long day with family. Much fun was had. Too tired to recount it now so suffice it to say fun was had =)

I know I owe some people thank-you emails and responses to trivia questions about Wes. Just wanted to say I wasn't ignoring you. I'm just busy this weekend with the family stuff and other stuff and since this upcoming week looks to be busy as well I'm going to shamelessly take advantage of everyone's good graces by using what free time I have to write more Strategy.

On the car ride back and forth to grandma's I think I managed to smooth out the final outline for the story. I won't guesstimate how many parts it will take to get me to the end, but the end is known and has fewer grey areas between me and it. Which, on the one hand, good since poor Wes can only be totured for so long but on the other hand I admit to feeling bittersweet about it since it's been so much fun (evil fun, granted).

So that's the status there.

Off to write!
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (glasses)
Once again did away with the concept of getting to bed on time in favor of chatting on the phone. This time with [livejournal.com profile] cin1607 who I do not chat with often enough. I keep telling her she needs to move up here and be my kept woman, but she keeps turning me down on that.

Must must must remember to call my grandmother today. It's her birthday but since I'm going to do the official birthday visit tomorrow I keep thinking tomorrow is the day in question. So much so that when I first wrote this paragraph I wrote it as "it's her birthday tomorrow". Total mental mind block on this.

Still trying to figure out what to bring her. She hates proper gifts because you couldn't get her a two cent piece of gum without her going "you should've done something for yourself instead, this is too much" and legitimately meaning it. In the past few years I've taken to making her things, because she can't say that something I made cost too much, but OTOH I don't know what to make her.

Mom suggested making her (grandma's) sauce, but the problem there is I don't know that I have enough time to do it (it's really a two day process all told) and moreover since I've yet to make it in a way that, to me, tastes like her sauce I'm not sure it'd be worth it anyway. Maybe later in the year, when I've got a few more attempts in.

So, at the moment, no clue. Definitely open to suggestion.

While on my way to work this morning (watch me blatently disregard segues!) I saw a Jeep in front of me with a cover over the spare tire that had an American flag and the phrase "There's only one". Now I'm reasonably certain that "There's only one" is Jeep's marketing slogan, but putting it over this huge picture of a flag only made me giggle, since you're either implying there's only one American flag (which is obviously incorrect thanks to the billions you see scattered about just waiting for burning) or that there's only one United States of America in which case duh. So I filed the whole thing under "marketing concepts that seemed like a good idea at the time"

Going to the movies this weekend. Was going to see LXG but then heard that it sucked. Decided to go see Bad Boys but Roger Ebert totally panned it. OTOH his review was so strangely biased that I can't help but feel this was one of those weird moments where Roger's got some bug up his ass about something and he's going to ramble on and on about it by God whether or not he's actually getting anywhere near the point of the film. Much like that TWOP recap that didn't get the satire in The Zeppo. So we'll see.

And now I sit here and contemplate Strategy while waiting for my boss to eventually get back.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (angel)
My boss and I have come up with a new disease today. SARSlette. Not full-blown SARS, but rather a smaller, 45 minute version, which conveiently crops up starting about 10 min before a 30 min appointment that you don't want to go to. SARSlette motto: "It doesn't actually kill you, just makes you wish you were dead. And have to miss that meeting. Whoops!"

Enfaith is asking people to try to stump me, after I have thwarted her with my obsesso-girl knowledge of all things Wes. Head on over and do your worst. I make no claims to knowing the graphic or other tie-in novels (kind of stopped trying to read those once I read the one that suggested the name "Wyndam-Pryce" came from mining stock [eyeroll/insert Wes as Zoolander saying "I think I'm getting the black lung"]) but aired eps, shooting scripts - go for it. I promise not to google to try to cheat.

Apparently if you can stump me you get a graphic. I don't know what I win if I know all the answers, save a smug sense of satisfaction. ;)

Now I shall sit here, sip tea, and try to jump-start my brain again. Not sure if I'll be able to post Strategy Part 8 by tonight. I'll do what I can though.
thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (gay pants)
Ack! Must remember to watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy tonight (Bravo, 10pm Eastern). I've seen snippets of the guys on their news junkets and so far I love them utterly. I will be quite miffed if I miss them tonight.

Of course there's also more Strategy. Which as of right now has at least 4 more parts to it, possibly more.

I'm just as scared as you are.
