Once again did away with the concept of getting to bed on time in favor of chatting on the phone. This time with [livejournal.com profile] cin1607 who I do not chat with often enough. I keep telling her she needs to move up here and be my kept woman, but she keeps turning me down on that.

Must must must remember to call my grandmother today. It's her birthday but since I'm going to do the official birthday visit tomorrow I keep thinking tomorrow is the day in question. So much so that when I first wrote this paragraph I wrote it as "it's her birthday tomorrow". Total mental mind block on this.

Still trying to figure out what to bring her. She hates proper gifts because you couldn't get her a two cent piece of gum without her going "you should've done something for yourself instead, this is too much" and legitimately meaning it. In the past few years I've taken to making her things, because she can't say that something I made cost too much, but OTOH I don't know what to make her.

Mom suggested making her (grandma's) sauce, but the problem there is I don't know that I have enough time to do it (it's really a two day process all told) and moreover since I've yet to make it in a way that, to me, tastes like her sauce I'm not sure it'd be worth it anyway. Maybe later in the year, when I've got a few more attempts in.

So, at the moment, no clue. Definitely open to suggestion.

While on my way to work this morning (watch me blatently disregard segues!) I saw a Jeep in front of me with a cover over the spare tire that had an American flag and the phrase "There's only one". Now I'm reasonably certain that "There's only one" is Jeep's marketing slogan, but putting it over this huge picture of a flag only made me giggle, since you're either implying there's only one American flag (which is obviously incorrect thanks to the billions you see scattered about just waiting for burning) or that there's only one United States of America in which case duh. So I filed the whole thing under "marketing concepts that seemed like a good idea at the time"

Going to the movies this weekend. Was going to see LXG but then heard that it sucked. Decided to go see Bad Boys but Roger Ebert totally panned it. OTOH his review was so strangely biased that I can't help but feel this was one of those weird moments where Roger's got some bug up his ass about something and he's going to ramble on and on about it by God whether or not he's actually getting anywhere near the point of the film. Much like that TWOP recap that didn't get the satire in The Zeppo. So we'll see.

And now I sit here and contemplate Strategy while waiting for my boss to eventually get back.
