Tuesday Has No Phones

Well, my house has been put into some semblance of order. All this in honor of justhuman, who comes to me tomorrow for tea, spices, and blowjobs. Which quite frankly makes it sound like coming to my house is like unto coming to the old kingdom of Siam, and to that I say: I have much, much cheaper bed linens.

Still, it should be fun. And it kicks off my hard-won three day weekend with the best of activities, which is to say talking about all of you behind your backs. Specifically flaming_muse who, frankly, drinks like a fish and has a bit of a gambling problem. I don't like to point fingers, I just state things for the record and let people draw their own conclusions.

Also wesleysgirl, who participates in cock fighting. There, I've said it and I think we're all a bit relieved to no longer have to pretend to not notice the feathers.

JH will be activating my abandonment issues sometime on Sunday afternoon, but until then I'll be busy making sure she doesn't kidnap my cats, so expect a bit of radio silence on this end until sometime around Sunday night. I'll miss you all desperately, but I'll be experiencing that sensation through frequent fantasies about Angel and Wesley and the various things they could do while naked and covered in oil. It's all about symbolism. The oil, for instance, is symbolic of friendship. Reacharounds are obviously symbolic of giving. It's poetry, really.

Try not to do anything I wouldn't do, and if you do by all means take pictures.

Okay, following through with that promise to actually go to bed at a reasonable hour. That means no more posts from me tonight. Trust me, you wouldn't have wanted any. When I haven't gotten enough shut-eye I pretty much just go through the motions of typing.

Note to thems that cared, cin1607 got in safe and sound. She got in about 3 hours later than if she'd abandoned all airplanes and simply drove up here, but she got here safe and sound. She's currently at my place, catching up on Angel because as everyone knows my collection of Angel tapes are the greatest tourist attraction in the whole of the New York tri-state area.

In other news, the schedule tightens even more so if I don't reply to emails and comments and the like please don't take it personally. Would if I could and will if I can, is about all I can promise. I'll be leaving at 6am tomorrow morning so you can imagine how much there is to do still. Esp since I haven't packed yet. ;)

In news of the political persuasion, did anyone notice that apparently Bush, in saying I'm not allowed civil rights, added that no religion supports gay marriage?

Tell me, does the the current administration even employ a research department? Because at this point a 14 year old with a passing knowledge of Google is doing a better job than The White "No pagans ever give to charity" House. Honestly, if you're going spin doctor things at least know what you're spinning.

Speaking of the gay marriage issue, I want to say that I'm aware that it takes a lot to amend the Constitution. To me, though, that's not the point. It's not just a matter of whether or not the Bill of Rights suddenly includes a Thou Shalt Not. It's about the president of this country seeing absolutely nothing wrong with proposing such an amendment, let alone backing it, let alone making public statements that he feels that certain members of this society are lesser than others, and that he's doing it for reasons which are religiously motivated.

Because to begin with wow is that insulting. But add on top of that I find it very important for people to realize that in this election year the guy who currently holds the office apparently has no clue the actual rules of the job. I wouldn't employ someone to work the Fry-o-later if they thought throwing potatoes on the floor was how to make the side dish for a Happy Meal and I wouldn't want to employ a president who apparently thinks the Bill of Rights is a guy who really hates things that go counter-clockwise.

Moreover, he doesn't need to amend the Constitution. Patriot Act I and II didn't require amending the Constitution but they're there anyway. Yes, I grant that there's probably going to be negotiation but frankly if "Let's white-out key parts of the document we use to run this country and add in a new thing about how much we hate queers" is the highball bid I kinda doubt that we're going to be haggling this down to "Nah, just kidding ya. We love gay people and want them to feel like actual members of this society." Call me crazy.

Now to actually get back to work.

I spent my New Year's Eve buying DVDs, picking up gay porn (thank you, cin1607, who rocks so hard it is not to be believed), convincing lucifrix that she should come to Connexions this year, watching silly things on TV (thank you, oh god TiVo), having a BBQ for dinner and then making Ted's chocolate souffle for dessert. All in all I enjoyed myself =)

In other news, in a not so sekrit message to people that I touched base with re: a certain project (note the icon if you're wondering which one), I just wanted to say that I haven't forgotten about it, but with the holidays making me and a few other people involved with this too busy to keep on top of LJ and emails, it just seemed like a good idea to wait for the holiday insanity to die down. So figure to hear more from me about that maybe next week as people start coming back from vacation =)

It's past noon so I guess that means I should make breakfast now. Catch y'all later when/if I can.

Okay, tomorrow I'm going to be in Newport all day, so expect radio silence on this end. I shall miss you all, and if I come back here to find that my VCR didn't tape Angel heads will roll. Oh yes, heads will roll.

In other news thanks to everyone who sent get well wishes and/or fic. I love you all and I would have various acts of grateful sex with you if not for what appears to be the embarassing fact that wrestling Mac into a cat carrier yesterday apparently was enough exercise to leave my legs sore. It's not a proud moment, I'll admit.

You know, it's taken me far longer than it should have for me to figure out that the high-pitched chirping sound I'm hearing on and off is actually being made by a bug outside my open window and not, as I feared, my computer.

Oh yeah. I'm fearsome with my intellect.

Busy weekend. Friday afternoon saw me finally getting a billion errands done. This was an impressive feat since it was a billion and five degrees outside, a thing which in no way was helped by the time I decided to sit down for lunch and unfortunately picked the hottest pizza place EVER. I kid you not when I say my ice cold coke turned totally warm within five to ten minutes of me taking it out of the case. Scary.

I did, however, cement my dyke credentials that day. I bought myself a gas grill over at Home Depot, the only place in town which had grills that I could afford. Getting it delivered, though, would have involved sixty bucks and them not being able to tell me when it would get there, which was just not going to work. So for twenty bucks I rented one of the huge-ass Home Depot pickup trucks and drove the thing back to my place myself. Dad helped me actually get it off the truck and onto the porch. So now there's a big hulking grill on my back porch and I can BBQ all year round if I so choose! Plus now I can say I've driven a truck. It's a life goal ;)

Yesterday I went into Brooklyn to meet Annika. She is, in fact, very small. I was fortunate enough to be able to give her her first bottle, then doubly fortunate when she waited until she was in Older Brother's lap to spit up some of the contents of said bottle. I told her she would be getting a good Xmas present for that.

And now I have maybe five minutes in which to decide if I'm feeling well enough to go into work or not. Grrr.

Erm... if I vanish off the face of the earth tonight, it's because God finally started paying attention to btvsatsrpsrpg.

/me thinks good thoughts about not losing power AGAIN.

So I try to catch up on LJ and LJ decides to be a devon. Which isn't a surrpise as such, more like an explanation for why I might have missed any posts that y'all might have wanted me to see.

Especially since I was up to about skip 100 when I realized I wasn't even logged in, so god knows how many protected posts I missed out on.

Anyway, busy day today. Just posting to show that I'm not dead. And that I've also gotten a little bit written on the last part of Strategy. In an ideal universe I'll finish and post tonight, but I suspect that may not happen. Not to worry, though. My boss is away Tues-Thurs this week so if RL stuff keeps me busy today and tomorrow I can finish it up on Tuesday. Because I'm responsible like that ;)
