It is, omg, so freaking hot outside. I bring you links, not coherence.
From
amireal, a candidate running for office soliciting money XKCD-style.
On the flip side here's another candidate who... doesn't have quite the same ideology as the aforementioned one.
There's a new vid from the wake-up cat guy! This is SO Mac and Luna whenever I'm on the computer.
A dig behind St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans has some nifty finds.
Did you know there were actual people who wear costumes and help others? Most seem to be in the sense of calling the cops if there's signs of trouble, or handing out food and blankets to the homeless. But still! Neat!
One of my pet hobbies is learning about how we all spend our money and why. So this long-ass article on the history of debt in America was right up my alley.
A whole article on tasers. For us Veronica Mars fans ;)
There's a program that crawls the web looking for mentions of disease in order to track outbreaks. Which is both neat and disturbing at the same time.
If you're trying to force frugality, you can try a money-free weekend. This is probably far more likely to happen in my life than a computer-free weekend.
kajivar made me aware of this awesome set of pictures of the moon going past Earth.
In rage-inducing news, apparently if you want to get away with rape in Canada (perhaps it's on your Bucket List) you can do so if the victim is 14 and drunk. I assume you don't need me to add words to this. (Actually this is when I hope someone in the comments lets me know that this article isn't real and I linked to the Canadian version of the Weekly World News. So... go for it, people!)
