Shoot me now
Apr. 26th, 2005 12:31 pmI must be coughing in my sleep or something because today I woke up exhausted. I protest this as being patently unfair, due to the fact that I went to bed on time like a good girl and to the fact that I felt pretty certain I slept through the night. But no, I wake up this morning and I might as well not have slept at all. Unfair, I say, unfair!
I would also like to protest my local yarn store, which closes at 6 on Tuesdays. How am I supposed to buy a copy of SnB from them tonight if they won't stay open after I get off work? Oh, sure, you can point out that they're open until 8:30pm on Wednesdays, but what good does that do me now, huh, hum, huh?
Ah well. The book isn't due back at the library until tomorrow, so it's not that bad I suppose. Actually, I have to admit I like the fact that this really is a local yarn store. It's run by a couple (married, AFAIK) and it's very much a small, local business. Like during the winter I passed by there once and saw that they had a sign on the door explaining that, due to the schools closing because of the weather, they had to close the store early so they could be with their kids. I just thought that was neat. (Granted, I suppose they could've brought the kids to the store, but OTOH depending on the age of the kids that might have been no fun for anybody.)
I suspect part of why I like things like that is that I have a bit of small town girl in my big city heart. I like homey things like yarn stores that schedule their hours around family time, and antique store/tea shop combos that exist because two friends wanted to work together. Put all that in a town where I can still get Thai food delivered and I'm pretty much set.
I know, I know. I'm kind of a sap. A sap in need of a nap. On... a lap. 'cause I feel like cr... okay I'll stop with the rhymes now.
