And this is what we came up with?
Jan. 24th, 2003 08:28 amYou know, I don't begrudge those who run cons the HUGE amount of frustration and responsibility they have so I try not to bitch too much about how things go because, esp with fan run cons, this is all work being done for free by people who were nice enough to give away insane amounts of their free time just so I and people like me could have a fun weekend.
That being said, WTF is up with the Connexions songvid contest? Okay, first off, who thought encouraging vidders to all do vids to one single song was a good idea? Don't we get enough of that spontaneously with the five thousand versions of "I'm a Bitch" "Crucify" "Strong Enough" and "Possession" that get submitted every year? Second, who thought of picking such an ass song? (You can hear it if you go to the link above)
So now, basically, what we have is a Sat night vid show which is guaranteed to be boring and repetative. Also the fact that if I want to watch any of the brand-new vids, I apparently have to put up with watching all the entries for this stupid contest.
Couldn't we have at least picked a single artist or album and told vidders to aim for that? Or even just had a much more basic contest of "Best brand-new vid" that was judged by audience reaction at the time or something?
I so don't get how this looked like a good idea.
