Tuesday Has No Phones

Had a great night tonight. Did a new thing which I may go into more detail on once it's a not-so-new thing and thus out of the shakey larval stage. But it was a positive experience so yay for that.

Ow ow ow - currently being kneaded on by a kitty who needs her claws trimmed. In related news, Luna says hi.

And that is actually that. Woohoo!

We're supposed to get HUGE rain today so I made a point of getting my laundry done at the same time I was making breakfast. (Reason being the washers are in another building, and the called-for hail isn't condusive to going outside). Practical magic dictates that doing so will banish all rain entirely, but as I sit here I do notice that it's getting darker so who knows?

Either way that's done so I can spend most of my day relaxing. My head isn't anywhere near as bad as it was yesterday, but there's hints of migraine still around the edges so I'm planning on kicking back, snuggling with kitties, knitting, reading, watching TV, and all sorts of other such activities.

I currently have a Mac lying across my arms and breathing into my elbow. Luna is by my knees in a furry ball. Really all in all things could be worse.

Luna, like Mac, has this thing where she loves being near me. The two of them take turns cuddling in my lap when I'm on the couch. (Sometimes they try for both at once, which tends not to work out as well, but they remain optimistic.) If my lap is unavailable for whatever reason, Luna comes up with the next best thing which is to sit next to me, rest her wee little head on my forearm, look up at me with her big yellow eyes, and purr. It is really hard to maintain a grumpy mood when she does that.

I've been playing around with a nifty thing at work. Due to various reasons it's now possible for me to listen to music at my cube. I'm also on a kick of wanting to be exposed to music that I might not otherwise find out about. So I'm using Pandora Radio. The way that it works is that you set up stations based on artists and songs that you like, and then it takes the information to provide other music you might like. You can then tweak it by adding more songs/artists, and giving thumbs up and down to suggestions that it comes up with.

What's interesting is the trends that emerge. You can click on a thing to have it tell you why it picked a song, and it'll say something like "This was picked due to having an acoustic piano, minor keys, and repeating lyrics." or whatever. Usually with more music-geek wording. So it's fun to check in and read those and go "....yeah, that's me." even if prior to that I couldn't personally tell you what elements of a song made me like it. It's also pretty accurate because yesterday it came up with a song that I liked that I totally forgot about. It also has ties into Amazon and iTunes so that if you like a song you can go buy it. I haven't tried that feature yet but I like that it exists.

swmbo shall be happy to know that today's breakfast was pancakes, with an orange and proper tea.

I am now curled up on my couch with my laptop and my two cats.

There was a dusting of snow earlier today. Not as good as full-on snow, but much better than nothing.

I am therefore content.

I have Xmas decorations! I finally got a chance to put up my tree! It's all shiny and pretty and has cat under it, so clearly it is completely decorated now.

In other news, I have cute new shoes.

Now all I need to do is finish knitting one gift, wrap all my pressies up, and I'm good to go!

Fa la la la la la la la la!

Had an eye exam today. Am currently wearing stronger contact lenses (I think they bench press 115) and feeling happier that I can, you know, see.

After that was a proper tea, in honor of my birthday. This has become a yearly tradition, and I rather enjoy it. It was nice and cold outside (sadly no snow, though they claim we may get some tomorrow) so it was an even more perfect day for tea.

Once home I wrestled with my couches to make room for the new couch, which is theoretically coming tomorrow. My living room's going to be a wee bit stuffed until I can get the old couches (and possibly one end table) picked up by a local charity. Sadly this will get in the way of my ability to decorate for Xmas, but hopefully not for too long. In the meanwhile I've at least started my garland of holiday cards.

The cats are most perturbed by the moving of the furniture, because now the two couches are on opposite sides of the room, and they're used to walking from one to the other. So every time they have to jump to be near me they look startled. It's kind of cute, actually.

After that was napping, after that was more work on knitting presents.

So all in all, not bad. If busy.
