This and a taser
Mar. 4th, 2008 09:53 pmJoss Whedon told a story of his days as a script doctor. In it he said that a common occurance would be for him to be called in to fix Act Three. He would read the script and reply that the problem with Act Three was Acts One and Two.
I sympathize with this a great deal at work.
I have things that I am now in charge of where yes, I can go in and make tiny updates here and tiny changes there. But oh dear GOD is it so much duct tape and gum on top of an already jumbled mess. I'd love to be able to take the time at some point to stand back, look at the raw data, and build it all from the ground up. As it is dealing with all the loose threads and tangles leaves me jittery.
Today I comforted myself by cleaning up some drawers and putting labels on my new file cabinets. It made me feel better.
