Today I woke up and MY LEFT EYEBALL WAS EXPLODING, thanks for asking. I'll spare you the gory details and skip ahead to the part where I actually had to call in because I was physically incapable of getting to the office. However! This was not your usual call to work. For starters, I didn't take the whole day off. Instead I just explained the situation and said that as soon as I was better I'd get over there.
I then crawled back into bed - almost literally - and managed to pass out for a couple of hours. Got up feeling well enough to make it in provided that I only ate dry, salty things and kept cold cans of soda nearby.
The other big difference was that when I got into the office the response was "Oh my gosh, are you okay?" instead of passive-agressive attempts to make me feel guilty. (And frankly I not only expected but would've understood if I'd gotten a full-on dressing down for calling in when I haven't made it past the 90 day mark yet.)
So it started out bad, but ended up nice.
And now I am relaxing.
