ZOMG WORK!

thebratqueenSo today work was trying to kill me. Some of it was enjoyable stuff where I got to use my brain and make things little, yellow, faster, different, better. But most of it was getting assignment after assignment where each one will take hours/days to do and the folks giving me said assignments don't seem to realize that they are neither the first nor the only person to put a request on me like that.
On the one hand it is nice to know that I'm trusted to take care of things. Most of the work from my direct boss is stuff where I can really use my talents (NOT DIRTY) to get things done. And today we even had a back and forth joking about how good I am. (example: Him, in email "Can you add this to my calendar" Me, replying back "I already did before you asked me and added these four other things you didn't even think of, Ha!") (Only paraphrased to not reveal the soooper sekrit details of what we were talking about) (Though I did write "Ha!")
But the other stuff was not quite the same. I mean it's okay and all, but you could so tell it was the kind of thing where folks were like "Oh man, if our department ever got a pony and a new assistant we could SO dump this stuff on them!" And while the pony has yet to get here I am around. So I get all the time-consuming tasks that have had "Do this when we get around to it." on them. And, of course, said tasks only take longer b/c it's been so long since anyone's touched them.
And on top of that I was getting it from multiple people (agan, NOT DIRTY). So it's much like when your teachers would assign homework like they were the only ones giving it out.
So the long and short of it is that I was busy today, and my real fear is that there may be even more stuff dumped on me later. I can handle what I've got given time to chip away at it, but oh dear GOD if that pony wishlist doesn't start getting smaller.
And that's work today.
