Murph and TDS

Fighting off a cold and, I think, losing. Went to bed around 10:30pm last night and woke up at about noon today. Also? Feeling the start of a migraine. Luckily the boss is out of town and I'm staying home. So there.
For the past few days Mac has been clingy like a clingy thing. Either he's trying to comfort me while I'm sick or he knows something I don't. Considering that yesterday he was playing with something that sounded like a bell and, as far as I'm aware, I don't own anything that sounds like a bell, I'm not ruling out option #2.
Since I've got a sec, might as well recap Monday and
This was not my first time going to see the show. However it was my first time going to see it with Jon there. The previous time turned out to be the day that Jon was tapped to do the Grammies at the last minute thanks to Whoopi Goldberg bailing. So
lucifrix and
stakebait and I were able to see a taping of TDS, but it was with Stephen Colbert doing host duties. Which was still cool but not the same as being close to Jon.
This time it was just me and
lucifrix. We got there at about 2:30 (they suggest 3pm) and I'd say we picked a good time. We sat, read, chatted with our line mates and what have you to pass the time.
Once they let us into the studio I was surprised at how small it seemed. On TV the new set seems cavernous, but in reality not so much. My guess is because a good deal of it is dark, so on TV it seems bigger than it is. But to give an example I'd always gotten the impression that when they were doing the "And now our senior ______ coming to us live from _____." segments that the reporter was some distance away from Jon's desk. In reality the reporter is right at the base of Jon's desk. So that was surprising.
Prior to taping they, like last time, blasted VERY loud music. There was also a warm-up comic who was okay as warm-up comics go. Jon came out to say hi and answer some questions, then they went right into taping.
During the commercial breaks Jon would play with his chair, which I thought was adorable. He'd either scoot back and forth on the wheels or spin. After the other segments Jon does a "Let's hear it for _______" for the reporter, so John Oliver, who was there already, got applause and Jason Jones poked his head in to give a wave of thanks for his applause as well. Also Jon stays at his desk while they're showing the taped segments, so it was cute to watch him giggling at Jason's report.
Before they do the taping for the Jon/Stephen back and forth the two of them talk a little bit. Here again was the cuteness as Stephen talked about how he'd forgotten he needed to do that bit, so he was going around feeling good and like he was ahead of schedule, then it was all - crap! Gotta do the Jon thing! And Jon laughed and said something like "I'm always happy to be the cock block to your day."
After the show Jon came back to do a quick thanks for the applause, and then that was pretty much it. They kicked us out, and we were free to go on about our evenings.
