...there were berries? Sorta?
Aug. 27th, 2006 06:09 pmSo after sleeping horribly last night I went out at oh my god in the morning (well, for a Sunday) to go berry picking.
The good news is that the brunch - pancakes with blueberry preserves and whipped cream, served with hot chocolate and a side of bacon - was very yummy. There was also a spectacular view of the farm itself from where we sat to eat.
The bad news is that the rain did not let up in the slightest so not only could we not go berry picking, but when we made our way to the farm's store to at least buy already picked berries as well as preserves and such, the store was closed. Because of the rain. Which was outside. Unlike the store which was in a building with four walls and a roof and everything. Which... yeah, none of us really understood either.
On the plus side there were plenty of farm stands to hit on the way home, so we still lucked out on the fresh fruit and veg thing, but the downside is that this basically amounted to a two hour drive (both ways) for a 40 minute brunch. (And calling ahead wouldn't have helped b/c the store and berry picking was still open and running when we got there.)
Still the company was nice and if you're someone, like me, who enjoys rainy days as a concept then today was a nice day, weather-wise. When I got home I immediately hunkered down for about a two hour nap, and now I am in warm comfy clothes and attempting to catch up on things.
