Icons, knitting, relaxing

thebratqueenMy search for crafty icons has resulted in frustration, I found some base pictures but nothing that worked for me in 100x100 format. Ah well.
Last night was spent parked in front of the TV with my knitting. I watched Big Love and dear Lord is Margene getting on my nerves. Possibly I'm supposed to like her and/or sympathize with her, but traditionally I don't tolerate the cute, optimistic to the point of being annoyingly oblivious to reality, girl character very well. See also: Kaylee on Firefly who I personally would've shoved out an airlock.
Barbara, OTOH, I would marry in a heartbeat. Hell I'd do her in a heartbeat. And it probably says something about my age that I'm identifying with the oldest mother character here instead of one of the kids. ;)
I liked Nicki's moment of being good with Ben (?) and his sheets. I liked seeing Bill and how much he relied on his religious beliefs (as opposed to someone who claims to be religious but doesn't honor anything in that religion). It was also nice to see him acting fatherly because one of the themes on the show has been the kids darn near being ignored for all that there are four parents around. I couldn't figure out if that was an intentional leitmotif or just one of those things that had to be chalked up to how the show only has an hour and the adults get the main spotlight.
And please, please, please tell me that Lilly/Mac (I DON'T CARE WHAT THEIR NAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE, IT'S LILLY AND MAC GOD DAMN IT) is canon there. At least on Lilly's part if not Mac's. Because that would be awesome..
After Big Love I popped in my Pride & Prejudice DVDs (the real one with Colin Firth, thankyouverymuch) and continued knitting while watching that. If there is something more theraputic to body and soul than knitting while watching P&P I do not know what it is.
Have read more of Happy Hooker and am feeling excited about relearning crochet. I'm going to dig out all my crochet supplies and spare yarn and will probably start practicing that as a way to relax before I turn the lights off and go to sleep. And then when I learn how to sew I can make a crochet hook holder for myself! :D
