So like an idiot I stay up until like 3 am last night. I don't know why. Grabbed a nap today, still tired now. Almost 100% certain I won't be going to bed early today either.
How sad is it that I've set my alarm a few minutes early so I can catch what I believe is one of Tim Minear's eps of Lois and Clark tomorrow morning? I am so Tim Minear's bitch.
Mega mega thanks to the people who have written to say they liked "Just Friends". I'll be posting those on a YahooGroups near you tomorrow I figure. My theory is people's boxes are probably getting flooded with the backlog right now so no need to add to that chaos.
Tried to explain slash to a guy at my church today - turns out I will be at Connexions the weekend of both the second half of the Welcoming Congretation but also a performance of the Gay Men's Chorus. Argh! Stupid scheduling.
Anyway - I was telling one of the WC guys that I was going to be out of town "Ironically, at a slash convention" So he blinked at me and said "What's slash?" So I explained it - very badly, I think - something like "Okay you know people who really get into Star Trek and LotR and all that? Well it's a subset of that - people who get into the same sex relationships in those fandoms, like Kirk/Spock."
That got me more blinks and a "Hookay." Which was kind of weird because my usual experience is that fellow GLBT people who don't know about slash are at least interested to find out there's a genre of homoerotic anything out there that they didn't know about before, but I think this guy just wasn't into fandom as a concept, let alone slash. When I gave the same stupid explanation to his partner later his partner was actually kind of interested, but he was also a Buffy fan and therefore could get behind the concept of the hotness that would be Xander and, say, anybody ;)
Speaking of which - can anybody point me to online sites with transcripts, shooting scripts and/or selected quotes of some of the slashier scenes from Smallville? I was telling the guys about it and their interest was perked to see how much of the Lex/Clark stuff was onscreen. I think I could convert them if I could just show them some of the good stuff.
