thebratqueenApparently I want it to snow so badly that I'm hallucinating it now. I actually stared out of the window all happy about the pretty flakes that, upon closer inspection, weren't actually falling. Whoops.
It's supposed to snow here sometime soon but we're not slated for the big insano blizzard that you midwestern folks are getting. Do feel free to send those flakes in my direction though. Only not tonight as I've got my last belly dance rehearsal before performing on Sunday. Tomorrow. Or 10pm Eastern tonight. That way I can be home, get tomorrow off work, and make pancakes for breakfastafter staying up way too late writing with somebody, not that I'm mentioning names here.
My wishlists are coming along. I was finally able to Google for the Gryffindor colors via Knit Picks yarn. However Knit Picks isn't giving me an easy handy dandy wishlist link the way Amazon does. I tried to get them to mail me a copy and so far nothing's showing up in my box. Not even in the spam filter. *Pout*. If I don't get anything tomorrow I'll give up and post what wish list things I have. The Amazon one is certainly healthy enough ;)
Fannishly I'm having a Wesley Renaissance.
Between No Limits and Fandom High I've been so deep in Angel's head (...heh) that Wes has taken a bit of a back seat. Which is ironic considering how much Wes powered No Limits through his actions. But still, it had to be all about Angel or else it wouldn't ring true for the show. (And oh the meta I'll be doing on that soon enough. Which reminds me I have announcements to make. Man there are not enough hours in the day.)
It's been fun doing some hardcore Angel. Especially with two extremes like FH and NL, where one tries to work as hard as it can to feel like the canon and the other has a toaster that's dating Santa.Which was a D plotline for the Xmas ep of NL but we had to cut it due to time. ;)
But what both settings share is an extreme POV of some kind which forces Angel's actions in a certain direction. That creates the fun mental challenge of figuring out what would Angel do in certain situations, and particularly situations that I wouldn't normally come up with on my own. I mean if it was up to me you know he and Wes would never leave the bedroom (huh, been a while since I worked on Protocol, huh?). So frankly writing Angel while wearing pants is exercising some new muscles. Write him in a season six? Or dealing with Rory Gilmore? Not the usual Angel deal.
And it's been fun to play with. It's sort of the character version of discovering a toy you'd forgotten you had. It's still yours, it never really went anywhere. You just weren't using it. But now that you've found it? Whee! New toy to play with!And brand-new situations in which Angel can remove his pants.
That being said, you do hardcore Angel and hardcore Angel with darn near everyone in the multiverse except Wesley and a certain ex-Watcher does start to fold his arms, tap his foot, and wonder when you're going to return his vampire to him. Ideally not too damaged, please. If he's done anything stupid Wes would much rather whap him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper himself. (And isn't that NL s6 in a nutshell? Wes's year-long attempt to metaphysically whap Angel on the nose with a newspaper. A newspaper made up of the fabric of time and space as we know it. Wes plans small, is the moral of the story here. Very low ambitions. Anyway...)
It's sort of the other side of the coin. Yank Angel out of his usual situations and you get to see Angel in new ways. But at the same time you look back at the old ways and have new appreciation for what they were.
Ergo, a Wesley Renaissance. (You fans of Sports Night know what I'm talking about here.) I want to read about him, download icons and vids about him, and write about him begging Angel to fuck him just that tiny bit harder.
