Boss, knitting, dance
May. 12th, 2005 11:15 amThe good - no, great news is that tomorrow my boss goes away for a week long vacation. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I adore these moments when I can do my work so much better b/c he doesn't get in my way.
Though of course there is still the pointy-haired syndrome. (Him: "When you call [name] do you leave a message? And ask her to call back?" Me, in my head: "No. I just hang up the phone after one ring and assume she'll psychically divine who was on the other end and what they wanted." Stuff like this always makes me think of that Josh/Donna scene on West Wing: "I'm sorry, how does a phone work again?") But we're close to just a half day more of it! And then I'm FREE! DOBBY IS FREE!!!
Went to my local yarn store last night (The segue there is... um... Dobby to socks to knitting socks to knitting. Yeah. Sure. We'll go with that.) Picked up nicer yarn to use for the baby hat, plus some fun yarn just for myself. I'm starting to reach the point where I actually need to make things, as I've run out of practice stuff. I realize that I could get a book on different stitch patterns and go with that, but I may as well take the plunge on actual items.
In a not so sekrit note to
byrne they had those interchangable needles. Good price too, though sadly nothing I can afford right now. Ahh how I long for the day when my finances will not be "I can afford the toaster, or the lamp." So to speak.
Asked the LYS owner about local knitting groups. Apparently I am not insane about the odd black hole in my hometown. There are some groups, but they're all private - in other words people who already know each other getting together in each other's houses. No open membership. But on the plus side the store owner had been considering trying to start one, so I did what I could to strongly encourage the idea. In the meanwhile there's a group two towns over (about 15 min by car, give or take) that's got a once a month meeting that meets next week, so I'll give them a try.
No belly dance class tonight, as they had to cancel it for a private party. Phooey. Now who will I practice my dork dancing with? Plus I got a choli off Ebay that I wanted to try. Phooey, I say phooey!
