Ahh, progress
Apr. 25th, 2005 09:25 pmThere's a certain kind of pleasure that comes from clearing stuff off of your To Do list. Particularly when the items in question have been hanging over your head for weeks. Case in point: my need to call my doctor to schedule my annual blood test (which I couldn't do until I knew the dates my boss was going to be out of town) and my need to call my plumber to have him come in and fix my shower.
The second has been a low-level, Crowleyesque kind of annoyance in my life as with perhaps a few days to go until Connexions the tap for the hot water in my shower decided it no longer wanted to turn off all the way. Now this is a minor problem that I've dealt with before, and it relates to the fact that said tap apparently loves to mangle washers to the tune of one every year and a half or so. I'm aware this could probably be fixed by replacing the fixtures, but for right now replacing washers is more in my price range.
Anyway, it's a problem that can be lived with as it is very easy for me to turn off the hot water to my bathroom by flipping a switch in the closet next to the bathroom door. This is good, as thanks to Connexions, gun class, Electric Vindaloo, and my job, I had no time to schedule an appointment. So at least I could turn the hot water off when I wasn't using it and not have to worry about it being wasted.
Still, sometimes you just want to turn a faucet and have it work, gosh darn it! So I'm off this Friday and verily that's when the plumber shall be coming. After that, there shall be much rejoicing.
Having done that, and a few other items on the To Do list, I now declare the rest of the night to be my own. Later!
