Is it canon or is it memorex part deux
Jun. 7th, 2002 10:27 amSo I had this thought for the canon list. I'm thinking it needs to be broken down into sections. Section one: this is canon, period. Examples of that would be things like Willow is Jewish, not Wiccan, Dru made Spike not Angel, etc.
Section two: stuff that's usable if you explain it. Things like that would be Tara being Wiccan, Xander being abused by his parents, etc. In other words make it clear that it's not that these things are right or wrong as such, just that these are things you can't take for granted.
What do you think? I was also wondering how much detail we should get into the canon. Here I'm thinking of stuff like
byrne's question about if Wes knew demonic languages - useful, but is it the sort of thing that needs to be on the list or is it more of a "general information about the character" kind of thing.
In other words my goal is to make the list a good, useable, one-stop shopping resource for common "is this canon?" questions and I'm not sure where the line is re: is it canon vs. just recreating both damn series but in alphabetical order.
If I had to guess my gut instinct is to say we should focus on the blurred line between fanon and canon and let the general canon take care of itself. What are your thoughts?
