Is it canon or is it memorex?

mpoetess, kita0610, stakebait and others have been chatting today about what is and is not canon for the Buffy and Angelverse. Since we're all interested (and being driven nuts by stories without it) I thought it'd be a good idea to create a sort of one-stop-shopping list for all things Jossverse canon. The idea is that we can all contribute, then I'll thread them together into a single list which Kita will post over on ficbitch.

Okay, I'll get us started:
Wes's name is spelled Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. Some of the later online shooting scripts have a typo of "Price" but there's no "i" in Wes's name.
Sire is canon and refers to either the vamp that turned you (eg Darla is Angel's sire) or an older vamp of your family line (eg Angel is Spike's sire).
"Childe" is a 100% fanon concept. "Childe" has never, EVER been used in canon. The concept of vamps being family is canon (eg Dru calls Angel "Daddy") but not once has "child" been used, let alone "childe" or "childre".
"Master vampire/minion vampire" - if you are using these terms to mean a vamp that leads a gang and a vamp who follows him/her it's okay. But if you are using this term to refer to a type of vampire you are using fanon. There is only one way to make a vamp. You cannot make a vamp so that s/he is a "Minion" or "Master" vampire.
Jossverse vamps do not cry blood tears. They cry regular tears. Anne Rice vamps cry blood tears.

Now then, from Kita, with some comments of my own in italics:
Buffy does not smell like vanilla, although apparantly, Willow DOES smell like strawberries. [TBQ - and tastes like them]
SEX is not what makes Angel lose his soul. And no, you morons, it's not that he can only have sex with DEMONS. HAPPINESS comma PERFECT.
Drusilla bit and turned Spike. Sorry. Joss fucked all us slashers up the ass with it, but it's true. You wanna say Angel taught him everything he knows, hey, I'm all for that. You wanna say he was Angelu's boytoy for 26 years, hey baby, I'm your greatest fan. But Dru sired him. She sired Darla, who was older, infinitely more powerful and sincerely PISSED OFF about it. Methinks she could have handled one William the Not Yet Bloody.
Willow is not a Wiccan. She may be "Wicca", whatever the fuck Joss wants that to entail, but she doesn't talk to or about any pagan diety except when it serves a plot point in her 'spell casting', she doesn't celebrate the Sabbats, and she most certainly never exclaims "OH GODDESS!" when upset. The only Wiccan in Jossverse just got shot. (TBQ - Agreed. Willow is Jewish and has repeatedly said so. ME uses "Wicca" to mean "witch" for some God unknown reason. It doesn't mean Willow worships the God and Goddess and the threefold rule.]
Xander's father never beat him. Never raped him. Never threatened his life. Canon has him as an alcoholic, and not a great guy. Apparantly, Xander would rather sleep outside than with his family on holidays. You could *make a case* that Xander was abused physically, but for godsake MAKE IT, don't assume it, because all we have seen is lousy parenting, not anything yet worthy of a federal crime.
