thebratqueenI get a twist in my stomach as I go through my friends page and watch the death toll from the tsunami go backwards. Though I suppose right now sadly the leaps of numbers are failing to be a surprise. I'm sure we'll crack 100,000 before the day is out.
I continue to look for ways to lend a hand. Last night I asked about fannish methods of helping, and it looks like a few might be in the works.
Of note right now:
New Hope Press is putting a special multi-fandom zine together, the proceeds of which will go to relief effort. I don't know yet what charity they've picked to donate to, but I put in a question to find out.

fandom_charity looks to be a group which might work for the fannish equivilant of a bake sale. Apparently people can offer fannish goods and/or services in exchange for donations to charities of choice (or people can offer donations in the hopes of an exchange of goods/services). I've emailed the mod to find out what the full scope of what can and can't be offered is, but in the meanwhile the rules of the community cover a lot of ground. James Walkswithwind has already started to offer fic in any of her fandoms in exchange for donations. Others may wish to do the same.
There's rumblings of more in the works. I'll post as I learn more.
