Dear local radio station,
I listen to [your station] while I am at work, and truly enjoy the music that you play.
However, a recent ad promotion is troubling me.
In your [station's charity] ads, you talk about those who have need this season, then add that their need is "through no fault of their own".
Is this really necessary to specify? If someone has need, they have need. True compassion means being charitable and understanding to *all* who have need, regardless of whether or not the need is their "fault".
I can understand if it's not possible for [your station] to change the nature of the donations given for the [station's charity], but I really do wish you would take that one phrase out of the ad. We should encourage people to be forgiving and generous to everyone, rather than implying that if someone has made mistakes in their life, it's okay for them to be hungry or homeless.
Thanks for listening to me.
Sincerely,
[TBQ]
