Turkey Day Eve!
Nov. 24th, 2004 10:06 amSo this is when we start singing turkey carols, right?
Did my final shopping for Thanksgiving last night, courtesy of Whole Foods. You know, the more I watch people the more I see that it's true that so many stress-related problems are self-inflicted. Take this guy who was next to me at the butcher's last night. He'd called in a turkey order that day (which was days past the deadline), was given a number, and apparently when he showed up to collect the turkey there was no turkey for that number.
Now, if this had made the guy completely turkeyless I could understand his frustration. But it didn't. Whole Foods literally had hills of turkeys available in the meat department. So the butcher was there going "Here, here is a turkey of the exact kind you said you ordered. You can have it." But no, the guy was pissed off because they didn't have a record of his order. To which you just wanna go dude, you wanted a turkey, you got a turkey. Let it GO. There are so many bigger issues to deal with in the world, why bring more angst onto yourself?
I'm at work today. We've already had a few cancellations because ofOMG it's the day before Thanksgiving and I totally forgot that even though TBQ reminded me of this when I booked the appointment illness and work. Probably too much to hope I'll get out early.
Regardless, tonight I start cooking. I'll be making the pie for dessert, and the mini muffins that are appetizers, and getting the soup ready for the crock pot. Then tomorrow I get to do everything else, and try to clean the house enough that the cats won't bother my dad's allergies.
I'm excited. =)
