Okay, I'm into House now. I suspected I would be, and having watched two eps I'm convinced of it.
Admittedly I'm already tired of the "let's diagnose and treat a hundred wrong things before finding out what's right" schtick, but OTOH this is only two eps in so maybe they'll fix that as time goes on.
Beyond that I just love House's character. He's so the Brian. Hugh plays him wonderfully (though part of me can't help but wonder what Alexis would do with the role, and ironically he wouldn't have to fake the American accent. Note to Alexis's agent: Get him roles like this. Trust me, he'll do well with them).
I don't know that I would necessarily camp out in front of my TV every Tuesday night as a given, but with Tivo I'm definitely happy to season pass it. Plus Tivo gives the ability to push past the icky bits. Like, can I just say: EYE! EYE! Needle! In eye! Not a nightmare! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
I have to admit, though, that as squicky as the eye thing was, I liked how they played with the night terrors and House's character to deftly screw with the audience's head as to what was real and what wasn't. The first terror with House started out with him pretty much acting like an asshole, so you couldn't automatically tell that it was all in the kid's brain. Then the setup for the eye test looked so much like torture that you automatically think it's another terror, then - AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
So, yeah, new show. It's no Angel, but it could fill the void while Rescue Me is away.
