Things which make us hopeful

Had a nice dinner with the family. Looks like this year we'll be doing Thanksgiving at Older Brother's place. P-sis will take care of the turkey, mom's doing the stuffing, and I've got everything else. So far OB and his family, P-sis's mom, my mom and dad, and me are a definite. My aunt and grandma are a possible. I think it'll be fun. Totally chaotic, stressful, and insane, but fun! It's like the holidays are here already ;)
Also, P-sis says her family over in Germany would so take me in if I ever needed to flee the country for whatever reason, so that's nice to know too 8)
On a more optomistic note,
linksforchange is a community that was created for people to post links to websites, articles, LJ entries, etc. that help people figure out how to take positive steps to make the world a better place, not that there was any event in the past seven days that would inspire people to think that perhaps the world (and/or the US) needed extra help in this area. The community has only just started, but I think it could be a nice place for people to find ideas on what they can do, as lord knows we've all been asking ourselves that question lately.
I just posted a link over there about Free cycling, which I only just learned about tonight and think is possibly the neatest idea ever! There's a group for my town, so I'll see about giving away some stuff I don't need anymore. Also, I wonder if anyone is giving away a sewing machine... ;)
