thebratqueenFelt a need to retire my old political icon (the "Dear Dubya" one) and replace it with this one. It somehow seemed more appropriate. By all means feel free to share and/or make your own.
On my lunch break for five more minutes. My mom called to make sure I was okay. I called her back when I got home for lunch and ended up breaking down into sobs. Fortunately for me my mom is a good mom, even if we don't see eye to eye on all political points of view, so she knew to shelve any and all kinds of political talk and just focus on how yes, this does suck. Mom being particularly savvy to this since she called me as soon as she became aware that not only was that absolute fucking asshole was getting four years (huh, apparently I can't spell the man's name anymore. Funny) but he was getting it thanks to the turnout of people who showed up to make God-damned sure that me and people like me are second class citizens (if that) in this country.
Mom offered words of support, and yet again recommended that I read a book she loaned me on the suffragette movement as she felt it was apt. I can't say she's not wrong.
For those of you who, like me, had been fighting off breakdowns all morning, you may want to lock yourself in the bathroom at work for five min and just let it out. I have to admit I'm a little more in control emotionally now that the first rush of misery has gone through. Not saying I'm perfect, but it's giving me a second wind to use to get through the rest of the day.
Mind you, I'm doing this one minute at a time.

justhuman I now know that I qualify as a skilled worker immigrant to Canada. Not sure where I'd get the money you're supposed to be bringing with you, but still, that's more options than I thought I had previously.
Huh. If I got my Irish citizenship would that help or hurt the process, do you think? 'cause apparently all I need to get that is to do the time to process the paperwork and be willing to give up my American citizenship and, well, I could get easily motivated in that area.
