The plague: Day five (day four of meds)

thebratqueenThe folks just came by to drop off a care package of baked ziti and pound cake. Never doubt that I come from an Italian family. (Or half Italian, anyway, but my mom can't drink to keep up with the Irish side of the family so she happily changed over to sauce of a different kind).
Throat doesn't hurt as much, I'm not coughing like Gollum all the time, my ears have occasionally gone pop which has so far cheered me up more than many major religions. I also have something like unto a voice, which is a happy thing.
The frustrating thing is just the exhaustion. I have no energy. I tell ya, if I had to go in to work today I would not be able to do it. The kicker is that this obviously raises the question about going in to work tomorrow. You'd think this would be an easy call, but anyone who knows me knows that I find it very hard to call in sick to work unless actively in pain about something, and it's even harder for me when simply being tired is the major symptom. I worry that tomorrow I'll wake up feeling just better enough to be on the borderline of going in vs. not going in, and no matter what choice I make it'll be the wrong one. (In terms of being a danger to others, my doc cleared me for that as of this weekend, so that's not a factor, fwiw)
But we'll see. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and feel perfectly fine to go in. Or crappy enough that I can't. Basically I'll be mentally happy so long as the choice is clear, and more or less made for me by fate. I can't be trusted to make the calls in the grey areas unless somebody gives me a manual.
As for today, I'm doing a whole lot of nothing, possibly with enough energy gathered at some point that I can go take a shower. Otherwise I'm pretty much tapped out, and trying to do what I can to save my energy resources for nothing but healing.
So me and my TV get to be best friends for another day. I will say this: at least now I know for certain that s5 West Wing is not worth my while. A couple of okay bits here and there, but otherwise it's like watching mediocre fanfic, and fanfic written by somebody who actually only knows one or two of the characters at all, and the rest they're just writing however they want. It's an interesting study in the power and influence that a writer can hold over a TV show, if nothing else.
Now to go find some more movies to zone out to.
