Olympics n'schtuff

thebratqueenI officially dub the Olympics the new "I love the 80's" because damn it is TV crack. And normally I don't even like this stuff!
But dude - DUDE!
Y'all have already gone on about Paul Hamm, and well you should. I still want to give some props to my girl Mo, who did the balance beam at the last minute and with no rehearsal when one of her teammates hurt herself in warmup. MVP award right there, baby.
And let's talk swimming, where the women's team including my girl Natalie (I have many girls. It's a harem. Shut up.) kicked everybody's ass.
Also saber, and the two US women who won their medals. I have to do fencing shout-outs, since I did that myself for like a minute and a half back in college.
I have to admit that when women kick ass in the Olympics, esp in things which are not traditionally girly, I get an extra moment of yay out of it. Not that I personally can claim kinship with the competitors considering that my own physical prowress is successfully summed up by my ass sitting on the couch and sucking on a Pudding Pop while watching the games, but it still makes me happy as a chick to see chicks eating the games alive, oftentimes moreso than their male counterparts. I'm telling ya, if the US women's basketball team gets gold and the men's doesn't I may never stop cackling with glee.
(Related to this - JH? I think it was you who pointed out that article about althetes at the Olympics who were 'out'? Did the people writing that article actually remember that women's basketball and women's softball were Olympic events? Because that could've saved them some time.)
So yes, I'm down with the Olympics. I'm there, I admit it. I'll be watching as much as I can. Though I might be staying away from the shot putters, as those dudes are scary and they throw heavy things for fun. This is me backing away slowly.
