In other news, I wish bon voyage to all those heading to Vegas. I hope you have fun at Writercon. Learn things! (A phrase which goes back to my childhood, and Peanuts cartoons. Oh happy memories.)
Watched Michael Moore on Bill O'Reilly last night. Man, who do you root for? What drove me nuts was that Michael was too interested in doing his schtick to provide real responses to what Bill was saying. Yet more fodder for "stop being on my side, you're making my side look stupid."
For the record this was also the first time I'd watch Bill's show. It's going to be the last, too. What frustrates the hell out of me is that I've got family members who watch this crap and read his books and yet somehow think that "fair and balanced" is a slogan with absolutely no irony in it whatsoever. Still, I've got a few months. I'll keep working on them. If Elder Brother, who is so wrapped up in the finance world that he's barely aware that we have a two-party system, can still look at Dubya and go "Okay, dude this is pretty fucked up right here." then hope springs eternal for the rest of the family.
(It's not that I want to force my values onto other family members, it's that I remain completely perplexed as to how these family members can have the values they have, and yet think Bush supports those values. I mean we're literally talking about conversations like "But Dubya does support the environment, and civil rights for gay people" Uh - where? Bizzaro World??)
Haven't had a chance to watch any of the convention yet. I might try tonight, if I duck out of my virtual season writing duties for a few days. Er - I mean, because I will obviously have every tiny detail of my episode totally in the bag, and can write it all out perfectly in 3 seconds, and I am in no way struggling to fine-tune the B plot to the point where I don't want to throw my computer across the room. Yeah. That. Ahem.
