The Patroit Act/SG1 thing
Jul. 27th, 2004 01:55 pmI've seen some people on my flist talking about this, so fwiw:
Federal Charges Filed Against SG-1 archive, wherein the Patriot Act is invoked to help prosecute somebody running a fansite, thus inspiring a few people to not be happy about what seems to be anti-terrorism mission creep.
However, more discussion can be found here, and here regarding what exactly the site did wrong, and how the account of the FBI raid being the "first" indication of there being a problem with the site might not be 100% true.
I'm not in Stargate fandom so I don't know any of these people from a hole in the ground, but others have been talking about it so I thought I'd put up the links. Don't have much use for them myself, so I'm happy to share. 8)
