Truth or dare answers
May. 17th, 2002 11:30 pmIf you could *be* a character in a slash pairing. Which one would you be, and why ? m/m or f/f doesn't matter. [please name character, SO & source ]
Believe it or not I actually had to think about this one. I couldn't pick any pairing I don't write because if I can't relate to them enough to write them then I don't relate to them enough to want to be them.
You'd think my answer would be some form of Angel/Wes, but when I thought about it I realized that their relationship has problems that while I love writing them I wouldn't want to actually live them.
Finally I came down to this - I'd want to be Angel, in an Angel/Spike pairing much like Mer and I are writing out in the RPGFH. I think the two of them, once they get past the wanting to kill each other thing, have enough similarities and an innate understanding of where the other's coming from that the long-term relationship could work.
You'll also note I picked the dom in that relationship ;)
What stimulates you in a partner, male or female ? What is it that, in a moment of conversation makes you go - want !
A smart sense of humor. I enjoy a hot body as much as the next person, but if we're talking about one of my innate moments of "Guh!" it would have to be discovering that the person I'm talking to A) has a brain B) can use it and C) can also be funny. This is why I lust after guys like Jon Stewart as much as I do Alexis Denisof. Alexis is eye candy but I've got no idea about his personality. Jon, on the other hand, has a huge brain and can use it for laughs. And let's face it - the brain lasts longer.
Why didn't you do this 6 years ago when I was still trying to figure out your sexual orientation? :-)
To which the answer obviously is "Because I was trying to annoy you." ;)
In your opinion, what are the best qualities a person can have?
Patience and a sense of humor, which is funny because I think I've got the latter in spades but the former I'm not so hot at. But I think there's a lot in life you can get through and overcome if you've got both of those qualities.
How much time do you spend writing (non-work related, if that applies) over the course of a week, and how much of it is actually worthy of posting somewhere?
Cough um, none. I spend all of my time - um - doing good works, and - um - finding a cure for cancer and - um - yeah.
Heh.
Hum. [TBQ tries to figure a number]. First off it depends on how you're defining "writing". If you mean sitting down in front of a keyboard and producing something and assuming we include the RPGs I'm involved in, I'd say I could easily spend an hour or two each day (on average) writing something. So 7-14 hours per week.
However I don't always count the actual typing. If my brain isn't busy with something else it's working on plot bunnies and actual stories more or less 24/7. I can't not write stories in my head. I do the bulk of my writing there and then actually write it out on the computer if I feel strongly enough that the story has potential.
So if I'm actually sitting and typing a story, there's a 99% chance it's good enough, IMO, for posting. 1% of the time I'm trying to force a plot bunny that logically makes sense but emotionally doesn't flow. Sometimes even those bunnies are okay (I've got a Buffy and Wesley - note no slash mark - snippet sitting on my hard drive that I think is well written but fuck if I know what to do with it) but if I don't feel that emotional "yes!" reaction I tend not to post.
As for the RPG stuff - well you've seen the status of the 800 pages. ;)
So I'd say of the stuff in my head maybe 10% of that is actually worth posting, but of the stories I start to type 99% are worth people looking at. RPGs get their own category because, frustratingly enough, no matter how good the writing in them is they are fuck-all hard to archive.
I noticed you listed twop as an interest. Do you post on the message boards there, and if so, what is your user name?
It's the very original "TBQ". I used to post there in - hmm - Angel, Real World, QAFUS and a few others but my schedule changed and I didn't have enough time to keep up with the boards. I lurk in some of the boards now from time to time but that's about it for me and that area. I still read a lot of the recaps though.
And that's it for the questions I had as of me typing this. Feel free to ask me more!
