thebratqueen: Captain Marvel (dead gay show)

Argh. I can't stand my dead gay show possibly being the c-word without doing a complete season of comments for it! Or at least a complete season in a timely manner. If I pay money to post from an internet cafe next Wednesday you'll know I'm a true addict.

OTOH, thank god I don't need to worry about waiting for the ep to air. Spoiler whore status how I love thee 8)

That being said I'm crunching for time so sadly no in-depth comments. Just some quick bullet points. I'll do a bit more in-depth when I do my Wes/Fred wrap-up essay, or possibly even when I get back from the UK to talk about the two eps in relationship to each other. But not now, unfortunately.

Anyway, here you go. Bullet points in no particular order of importance:

Gotta love Joss for the slash shout-outs.

OTOH Joss, honey? Nobody besides you and Amy Acker's mother loves Fred that damned much. I'm not saying nobody could ever love her. I'm sure people could. But to now canonically have three men who have done life or death actions because of their adoration of her is bruce and you know it.

Also, the people for "She was born a Mary Sue and died one too" would also like to offer exhibit S: William the Bloody, with "not this girl". Dude, he didn't even say that about Buffy. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury I rest my case.

When it came down the spoiler whore grapevine that Wes/Fred was going to become canon (And BTW Joss, whatever hatred I feel over the Fred thing in general may be 100% mitigated by the fact that you made it canon that they never slept together.) I worked the whole course of their relationship over in my head like a puzzle box and ultimately came up with the only way I could accept it, particularly given when Wes fell for Fred, which was in her insane locked in a bedroom days, was if she was somehow supposed to be his soulmate or destined love. In other words much like Angel and Buffy where pretty much nothing (note the qualifier) about their relationship made sense but they still loved each other desperately anyway, Wes's love for Fred likewise made no sense but there it was. Ergo soulmate. Or something like that.

I'll get more into the lack of sense of Wes/Fred whenever I get around to the essay, but Wes's line about loving her before, much though it could just be ye olde cheeseball "everybody says things like that in a melodramatic moment" type stuff makes me wonder if, considering it was from the pen of Joss who came up with this relationship brain fart in the first place, the soulmate/destined love thing really is canon. In which case I might need to re-evaluate the whole thing. Because Wes's half of it, at least, gets a little understandable if he's under the influence of emotions beyond his control.

Fred, OTOH, really needs better taste in boyfriends. I'm sorry, I love Wes, I do, but he's psycho in relation to her. That's not healthy.

Anyway, I'll get more into it later. Just wanted to mention for the record that I plan on being fair and taking the possible soul mate thing into consideration.

Lorne actually had something to do this ep. Yay! Also last ep which I forgot to mention. In my own defense I was distracted by puppets. I don't think anyone can blame me.

On the one hand, yes, Gunn's thing is something of a drug metaphor. On the other hand can we please notice how much better they're handling said metaphor on Angel? Again I'd say more on this if I had time.

Joss? Seriously, give it up with Eve. Nobody cares. The only way anyone would care is if she died, onscreen, in a horrible manner (though many of us would also accept accidental death by slipping on a banana peel). Detach with love. Seriously. There isn't time enough in the world, let alone this series, for any of us to give a shit.

Sigh. There you go. Sixpense summary to be certain, but I had to do something. We'll see what happens next week ;)
