It's official

thebratqueenI woke up this morning to see that yes, the cats have broken their first ornament.
[sniff] It's a milestone, really. Frankly I'm almost curious to find out how since from what I could tell the ornament didn't fall from a great height and it fell not only onto the tree skirt but my floor is carpeted to boot. I dropped plenty of ornaments from even higher while I was decorating the tree in the first place and none of them broke. So apparently my cats are overachievers.
(And as a note to my fellow cat owners, apparently tying your ornaments on with ribbon does work, inasmuch as the actual metal loop of the ornament, sure enough, was still attached to the tree. However ribbon does absolutely nothing if the cat waps the ornament hard enough to make it disengage from its metal loop. Next year I'll just use the metal hooks. Just as effective but easier for yours truly to get them off the tree when all is said and done.)
In other news the snowblowers are going like mad outside. Which is good as it means I shouldn't have to shovel in order to get to my car.
Plans for today include making more cornmeal pancakes, seeing if I can fix my vacuum cleaner myself, actually braving the outdoors to shovel off my porch and dig out my car (which I anticipate is going to be followed by a nice hot bath), turning the leftover turkey bones into soup for dinner, and - shh, don't jinx it - possibly finally getting to the next installment of Pet.
Let's see how much luck I have with all that.
