thebratqueenHappy Halloween, Joyous Samhain, and let me get a head start on wishing you a blessed All Saints Day as well.
Man, it's days like this when I almost miss New Orleans. Not so much for the insanity that the French Quarter turns into - and thank GOD I am not leading a tour tonight - but boy does that town know how to celebrate a holiday that revolves around death. Costumes today and visits to the cemetery tomorrow. You gotta give credit.
I thought about dressing up in one of my old tour guide outfits today but I actually like those clothes and didn't want to get them messed up with chemicals from the office. So it was my usual uniform outfitted with my bat earrings (Eek and Squeek, thank you for asking) and a "God" nametag a la Oz. Can I just say I wore that all day and not one person commented on it? (Besides my boss who loved it) I guess I just carry myself like a supreme diety. Who knew?
Lunchtime conversation:
TBQ: I used to do tours of haunted locations around the French Quarter. Haunted haunted not people in costumes haunted.
Boss: Really? So what makes a building haunted?
TBQ: [in "duh" voice] There are ghosts in it. What makes a building haunted for you?
Boss: My ex-wife is in it.
TBQ: Fair enough.
For those who were waiting on tenterhooks for information about the french onion soup, I am now the proud owner of onion soup bowls (yes, they are actually called that). Four of them for $15 at Bed Bath & Beyond. Not bad. They're green which I also like. Not that that matches anything else in my dishes, but neither would that classic brown and I just think that's been done to death.
Of course while I was at the store just now I totally forgot to buy the bread for it. Sigh. Just have to remember to pick it up tomorrow. I was going to go out tomorrow anyway so this is not a huge deal.
I'm home now, resting and relaxing before doing various forms of cooking and whatnot to honor the holiday. I've also got candy at the ready in case any kids come by but who knows if that will happen. If not, more chocolate for me! Woo!
