Oct. 15th, 2003 11:11 amCan you tell I'm alone in the office and spamming LJ instead of working on Pet?

Did you ever read fanfic that was so bad you immediately had to back out of the website and go open up one for a good author so you could cleanse your brain out? What I hate is when it has a deceptive appearance of goodness. Like it's spelled right, the grammar seems reasonable, a lot of effort was put into it. And then you read it and Abort! Abort! Pull out, we've sprung a leak!
Or something.

And yes I'm not unaware of the possible irony of saying something like that while talking about Pet, a story which I know has probably brought as many bells to a dead-silent halt as it has rung them for others. To which I say: since when is Pet spelled right and who gave it reasonable grammar?

Alexis Denisof is a pretty, pretty man but that one shot of him with his coat slung over his shoulder just makes me giggle and imagine him going through the gamut of International Male poses. Now he's checking his watch! Now he's got his hand in his pocket! Now he's leaning over the shoulder of an African-American friend while pointing into the distance! In next month's issue, he'll be standing on the deck of a boat while wearing stripes and squinting into the sunlight!

I appreciate the local A&P's efforts to get into the spirit of Halloween, but I don't think stringing cobwebs up around the displays of meat is creating the exact feelings of horror that they were hoping to inspire.
