For thems who are curious...

Friday

Picked [livejournal.com profile] beyondallreason up from the train station.

TBQ: [livejournal.com profile] flambeau says we should hug.
M: Oh?
TBQ: Yeah, not sure why. Guess she wants girl on girl action.
M: I see. We're going to have to keep an eye on her, aren't we?
TBQ: I've always said that about the Swedes.

From there proceeded back to my place, so M could get out of her thousand pound clothing and we could come to the realization that we were both extremely tired (M from travel, me from... I dunno, star alignment or something) and decided that the best course of action would be to grab food from the store and eat at home. This then lead to far too much time being spent staring at things in the Stop & Shop, plus the eventual lesson on Whether Or Not One Needs To Turn One's Lights On While Driving At Night (answer: apparently not, though doing so makes the cars around you less nervous).

Picked up Mexican, came back home, ate in front of the TV like proper Americans while watching the tail end of Ocean's 11 and then popping in the DVD of Big Trouble, the latter of which lead to many jokes about Gator fans over the course of the weekend.

M also had good bonding time with my kitties, of whom Luna was the most attached to her.

M: She's not very loyal, is she?
TBQ: No, not really.

Went to bed around 1 am. We're so old.

Saturday

Woke up at noon like all good people should. Snuggled with cats, made pancakes. Lethargically worked off the sugar high by watching a small marathon of Newlyweds on MTV. Failed to understand why Nick married Jessica in the first place. Decided that in our relationship M and I are both the Jessica, at least in the sense of very often not being the brightest paint in the colorwheel.

Co-ordianted with Mom and Pop to go out for ice cream, as Mouse was in town for the weekend as well and Carvel ice cream is a family tradition in TBQland.

Dad: Mouse, do you want to go over to Aunt TBQ's and meet her cats?
Mouse: [solemnly shaking her head] Nooo! I'm a big girl! I don't eat cats!
Dad: Um... not exactly what I meant, sweetheart.

So Mouse got to eat meet my cats, then we introduced both her and M to the wonders of Carvel ice cream. Mouse enjoyed it while spreading it over most of her arms. M did pretty much the same although she was also able to hold a conversation with my parents at the same time, so you can see how she's at a higher skill level. M now knows everything one could ever hope to know about the gene pool which spawned me, and remarked later that it did in fact answer a lot of questions.

Afterwhich M and I went off to see Underworld and of all the vampire/werewolf movies I've seen this year involving Romeo and Juliet style romances with former cast members of Felicity and male vampires who apparently think that you're never fully dressed without a shirt completely made of sequins, this was easily the loudest. It was also kind of pretty in a mindless way. Plus I give them props for doing as much as they could without CGI, which is a theme I'm going to touch on again later.

Dinner was Thai food, in which M ate some very good prik, we both had Jessica moments while attempting to work the ladies room, and neither one of us could figure out why Thai food was being served while accompanied by piano and saxophone. But the food itself was good so points there.

Had a near miss with PotC when the next showing was hours away and we both knew that we'd never get off our butts to come see it after going home again. So it was back to my place for a good conversation about whether or not girls our age are ready to settle down with someone and/or raise children, what do we picture for ourselves when imagining this next phase of our lives, and the frustration of attempting to figure out when people are actually into you as apparently both M and I are completely oblivious to this across the board.

M: But you do have those people lining up in your LJ.
TBQ: True, but they're failing to send in resumes and headshots, which I think shows a lack of commitment on their part

We then settled down for two episodes of Trading Spaces during which we decided that the new designer is an asshole, and not even in the fun Doug way, and then by sheer luck stumbled upon Attack of the Clones which M had seen once and I had seen not at all. Having seen it now all I can say is I will never ever call Angel/Cordy the couple with no discernible chemistry whatsoever again. The lack of chemistry between Padme and Annikin was so bad I kept waiting for all the lights around them to dim thanks to conservation of energy.

M and I also amused ourselves by pointing out everytime the CGI was poorly done and the perspective shots were totally fucked up, then decided that we'd never talk about anything else if we kept that up so we reserved the rest of our comments to all the other weak spots of the movie and even after a while of that we had to hold off to the truly bad parts of dialogue. Comparing it to LotR, though, did ease the pain somewhat. Plus there was a scene of Ewan in bondage and that's always good.

At which point it was late enough and M had a plane to catch so it was off to bed, then up this morning for a lovely drive into La Guardia which was only slightly hindered by the moment that approximately five billion motorcycles decided to park in the slow lane so that the men riding them could pee by the side of the road.

Good times.
