Clarification
Sep. 17th, 2003 07:56 pmJust to clarify a comment I made earlier, specifically: "It's like that time I tried reading Willow/Angel stories and kept clicking one after another in the assumption that at least one story out there, somewhere, was good and I just had to find it." b/c apparently I inadvertently miffed a few Willow/Angel fans when I said that. So, a quick history:
As I said it was "the time", meaning a singular solitary time that lasted maybe a weekend, I looked for some stuff, which I did about two years ago wherein I googled for some fic and read what I could of the Willow/Angel archives that came up.
Now I'm sure there are good Willow/Angel stories out there but I did not find them during the time I looked for them. Instead I found a lot of Willow Sues and Angels who mysteriously never loved Buffy even though the fanfic accepted as canon the loss of Angel's soul back in s2. Those to me were not good characterizations and therefore not good stories.
It actually got to the point where I kept finding so many bad stories click after click that I got into this mindset of "I have to check all of these because surely there's at least one good Willow/Angel out there somewhere!" I mean you've got to picture me all Rosencrantz & Guildenstern going "Heads - heads - heads - heads - " over this because by God there's got to be a tails coming at some point, right? Except no, I kept getting heads.
Now I'm not saying all Willow/Angel sucks or that Willow/Angel is a bad pairing. I've actually written some Willow/Angel with the help of
stakebait and I think
kita0610 can vouch for how often I've grossed her out by insisting that no, really, Angel wouldn't mind seeing Willow naked since he's A) male and B) not blind. So I'm more than fine with the pairing, honest.
And I'm not saying that all the Willow/Angel stories suck because I haven't read all of them and I'm sure there's good ones out there.
All I'm saying is the time I tried to look, I did not find those stories. Much like the time today I tried looking through Ann Coulter's website for at least one thing which made sense. I'm sure that thing exists somewhere, but I have yet to find it. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just means I haven't found it yet.
So I hope that clears that up a bit. I didn't mean to come off like I was slamming anyone's writing or pairing or anything.
