You know, sometimes you just have to admire the gall.

I'm sitting here, minding my own business, when my cellphone suddenly beeps with a text message. It's from Sprint, telling me to call an 800 number right now or else my cell phone service is going to be interrupted. Alrighty then, says I. I dial the number and find out that according to them I have a past due balance for X amount of money.

This fascinates me for two reasons. Reason number 1: no I fucking don't have a past due anything because I can pull up my bank statement online to prove that Sprint accepted payment from me long before the past-due date and 2. moreover Sprint just sent me a check for X amount of money as I apparently had too much in my account.

So I call up the customer service line and find out their computers are down, so regardless of whether I'm right or not nothing can be done "for 2-4 hours". I explain the situation anyway and get told that Sprint just changed their system, which meant changing everyone's account numbers. And instead of taking my payment for my old account number and applying it to the new account number they didn't even tell me I had, they just let the new account number languish unpaid. Wasn't that nice of them?

To say I am unamused is a gross understatement.
