Gay pride continued
Jun. 4th, 2003 03:15 pmA few people responded to my earlier post about sexuality as choice and specifically my question about why the argument "Being gay is a choice, therefore you can/should change into someone straight" is allowed to continue. Since more than one person raised the same point I thought I'd clarify in one go =)
I'm not saying I don't understand why they keep arguing this. God knows there are some people on the anti-gay side who'd happily accept the falsehood that being straight means you spontaneously generate vitamin C if they thought it would further their agenda. I'm not talking about them.
I'm talking about us (ie those who recognize the argument as ridiculous, regardless of sexuality). Why do we let this argument continue? These things can't persist in a vacuum. Why wasn't there such a round of hysterical laughter at the sound of this that nobody could collectively catch a breath for easily 3 years?
The argument is bruce. Why do we let it continue?
