Lazy, yet productive
May. 24th, 2003 10:44 pmMy plan for today was to be lazy and boy did I succeed with that. Granted, I did some cooking but otherwise it was me on the couch with the cats watching a marathon of I Love the 80s with various side-trips into TLC for While You Were Out. The cats were thrilled.
Ice cream shall be made tomorrow, god damn it, so tonight I whipped up the mixture so it could mellow out in the fridge. I also made these rolled vanilla wafer cookies which were nice and all but not so spectacular that I'd feel a need to make them again for anything but a special occasion. Or for a day like today when I want to make something while doing something else, like watching TV. Otherwise the rolling/cooling process is just too fussy. But at least I get a cool-looking cookie out of it.
Oh - I also watched another ep of What Not to Wear. This one interested me because it was for a person with similar priorities to mine - or at least some of my priorities as far as clothes go, viz not liking things that are too expensive or fussy. I think having her on inadvertently put a big, blinking neon arrow on the fatal flaw of the show, which is that for five thousand bucks anybody is going to look good. What about a show for those of us who would like to spend less than six mortgage payments on our wardrobe in one shot? Sure you can still take some of the style ideas but some things just aren't going to happen when you can't spend $300 on a pair of shoes.
Actually what it really did is make me wish I could go shopping. Sadly with cons in my future that's just not in the budget for right now. But OTOH I can at least give myself a pat on the back for not indulging the shopping desire by ringing up my credit cards, right?
