Angel for a fifth season
May. 12th, 2003 11:32 amThanks to
rubywisp for posting this article from Variety confirming Angel's fifth season.
Charisma's not going to be a regular? Oh my god. It's Christmas in May. Thank you LORD. Okay, okay, sure, "not a regular" still leaves room for guest-starring appearances in dream sequences or whatever, but the point is she won't be there everyday and thank you LORD.
Joss is going to be writing some eps? Er.... did we mention that Charisma's not going to be a regular? Sigh. God I wish he wouldn't. OTOH season 5 is supposed to be large with the stand-alone eps so I'm hoping that his eps will be easier for me to ignore.
Jeff Bell and Tim Minear as showrunners? PURRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Although frankly I would've just accepted Jeff. I love me some Tim but the boy's a wee bit spotty as a show runner. But then again maybe he'll do better without David G's "help" and without the extra pressure of having to write and direct at the same time.
As for the Spike stuff - when I heard about this months ago I was ready to tear my hair out, but then I reminded myself that the Angel team is much better at handling characters than the Buffy team is. I predict we're going to have an interesting, watchable Spike. Nor am I worried that Spike will steal the show. He's only doing guest appearances and, unlike the Buffy staff who for some odd reason can't think up a single plotline for any of the Scoobies this season that lasts beyond fifteen minutes, Angel's cast of regulars already has some heavy stuff lined up. Between white room Gunn and the hotness of Wes and Lilah I don't fear that Spike's going to overshadow them. Frankly the only one who's got something to be worried about is Fred, and since Joss is writing eps next season that doesn't look like a worry either.
