thebratqueenLooooooooong day. Finally made my way over to services. As always, it was nice to see everyone. I also managed to finally and officially bow out of one of the committees that I was on that I wasn't doing nearly enough work with (in my defense when they asked me to join it was presented as much less work than it actually was. As in they told me we only needed to meet a few times a year and neglected to mention the weekly work that was expected of me as well). I'd already told the head of the committee months ago that I wasn't the person for the job, but for whatever reason I still hovered in limbo (not by my choice) with it never being official that I wasn't on it so much as it being unofficial that I was on it but not doing much. So today we finally put a nail in that coffin and I'm much happier about it.
Next two weekends I won't be able to go due to various prior engagements, which is a shame b/c next week is a question-box sermon and I like those. Still, I want to get their more often so I'm going to try to carve out little bits of time to at least go to the events if not the services. Case in point the potluck dinner on Friday. Granted, I may still be unable to go to that as well as it will require a lot of juggling for me to make it, but I'm going to try. Otherwise I think there's just one of those left before the summer break so if I miss both of them I'll be SOL until fall.
Rest of the day was spent with family, with Elder Brother, Older Brother, P-sis and the formerly nicknameless neice who is now known as Mouse. Much fun was had, esp since Mouse is old enough to actually do stuff so we played forms of catch, clapping games, explored ant hills, the works. She was also very wise in bursting into a big smile when she saw me, running across the room, squealing "It's you!" and giving me a big hug, which was charming as all get out and I've no idea why she did it since on all previous visits she wasn't nearly coherent enough as a human being to recognize anyone who wasn't her parents. But hey, gift horse, mouth, yadda yadda.
Tonight I still need to spend a little time in the kitchen, prepping a vegetable soup for the crock pot tomorrow. At some point this week I also need to go through my recipes to find something to make for the potluck if I'm going. I have a ton of recipes that I've seen in my various cookbooks that are perfect for potlucks and every time I see them I go "I've got to make that for First Friday". I'll bet you anything now that I'm actually trying to go I won't be able to track them down.
I'm also tired as all get out. I may end up pre-emptively being what I eat by being a vegetable tonight. We'll see how much pep I have to be online.
