Fic question for the day

thebratqueenSo I have this plot bunny. And for shits and giggles I do a Google search on the concept and find that others have had similar plot bunnies but that - how can I put this? - they all REALLY suck. Like seriously bad. So bad I have to go reread some stories by my fav. authors to cleanse my system.
The question then becomes - should I keep the plot bunny or give up on it? I know this is hard without me naming names or anything, but suffice it to say that the problem is that apparently the idea is a cliche, and it's a cliche done badly. So do I try to show how the cliche could be done right, or do I not bother because who needs a cliche story of any quality, really?
