alias_lilacgirl asks: Explain the "box?" icon?
The box? Icon comes from Returning, a story I wrote withstakebait. In it, Angel and Wes meet up with the Scooby Gang in England and the following dialogue takes place:
"Yeah, you know," Dawn replied, "Spike had to brown bag it. They delivered a meal to your box? What airline did you take?"
"Box?" Angel asked, looking for all the world like they were speaking a language he didn't understand. Which was funny, considering English was supposed to be his native tongue. "Like - like a booth? In a restaurant?"
"We flew United?" Wesley said, attempting to help.
"We flew Virgin," Xander said. He grinned at the memory. "They have video games! In the back of every seat!"
Angel gave Xander a distracted look. "We had TV monitors," he said, then turned his attention back to Dawn. "Box?"
"Big square thing," Dawn said. She held her hands out to indicate the shape. "Lightproof." When that still didn't clear things up for Angel, she tried again. "Vampire transportation module?"
From then on out "Box?" just became synonymous for me for any moment where somebody just doesn't get what's being explained to them. I made a LJ icon for it and there we are. Confusion = Box? ;)
silverthoughts asks: When are the cats going to drive you so batty you will start to scream?
Oh they're coming close. They've discovered the joy of chasing each other willy nilly throughout the house, so as I sit here trying to concentrate and write stories, I've got two sets of paws thundering back and forth behind me. Plus Luna doesn't know all the house rules yet and Mac thinks that just because she can break them, he can break them too. We're having a lot of parent/child conversations ;)
researchminion asks: When's the last time you joined a new fandom, and why not try Everwood?
It depends on how you define "fandom". I'm only whole-hog (ep reviews, fanfic, etc) with Buffy and Angel. Beyond that the only other shows I watch obsessively are 24 and Queer as Folk, which tells you about my TV tastes right there.
I'm not really looking to get any new fandoms, but as far as Everwood goes I'd say the strikes against it are that it seems very Gilmore Girls style wholesome which isn't the thing that tends to suck me in and make me want to watch obsessively and write fic.

Back in the early days of me and Usenet, I hung out obsessively on alt.books.anne-rice. I was pretty much my usual self over there, which made another one of the posters say that if Lestat was the Brat Prince, I was the Brat Queen. Voila, a nickname was born. I've been using TBQ ever since.
