Snow!

The good news: It's snowing! Whee! Pretty little flakes falling from the sky!

The bad news: Apparently not enough to cancel work, as my boss hasn't called me yet.

*pout*

*whee*

*pout*

This is going to be a manic depressive day, I can tell.

Home again

So I get a voice mail from my dad (who lives within walking distance) that says his office is closed today, and do we want to do breakfast together. (My dad knowing of my waffle/pancake tradition, obviously.) Now the snow didn't actually look that bad from my view out the window, but I figure be on the safe side.

I call my boss's house. His wife (very nice woman) answers and tells me nope, office is open today. Boss just went in.

Hoooookay.

I turn on the news. I have the bad timing to hit commercials all around. I know that local websites don't update quickly enough to give me the info I need. I figure fine, we're open. Plus I had the annoying fight about how holiday days off do not equal vacation days off earlier this week, so I don't wanna get into it yet again.

I go out. Nothing is plowed. Nothing. But I figure maybe it's just the co-op driveway. Plus the snow's powdery, how bad could it be, right?

Nope. Streets aren't plowed either.

I literally get down the block and around the corner and nearly skid out three times. I also pass by two accidents.

I get on the cell to tell my boss, politely, that he can kiss my ass. My boss, still being an idiot, has this weird combo attitude of clearly thinking everyone in the world is a slacker while at the same time telling me he was just going to have his wife call me to tell me not to come. This with five minutes before I'm supposed to show up at the door. I do not live five minutes away from work. You can see how even when he's a moron he's a moron.

I try to drive around the block to go back home. More skidding. I finally have to give up and abandon my car in a parking lot and walk the rest of the way.

My dad, whose alcoholic coke-addicted boss was still able to recognize that today was a snow day, comes to help me rescue my car and bring it home.

All told it took me an hour to drive around the block.

I hate my boss so much.

I am now going to go back to bed, sleep, and hopefully when I wake up I'll be able to enjoy the pretty snow, make soup, and maybe even be cheerful enough to get some writing done.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
