Heat, AC, relaxation
Jun. 5th, 2005 01:27 pmThings are bright and sunny here in the land of Siam. I did what I could to stay nice and cool last night but today I've turned the AC on. It was just too much to deal with a fan, drawn curtains, and a positive attitude.
The last of the hot brunches is currently cooling on my counter. I had some buttermilk I needed to use up so I made waffles, figuring those would be the least hot option out of all possible brunch buttermilk uses since the waffle iron doesn't give off as much heat as a griddle for pancakes or the oven for biscuits. Plus I can eat the waffles at room temperature, which they're currently cooling down to.
Next week I shall have to come up with some cooler item for brunch. No clue yet what I'll try. I'm realizing part of the problem is that even with the AC it's not as much fun to be around a hot stove first thing in the morning, so during the summer I may need to give up on the idea of cooking brunch entirely and instead stick to things like fruit and smoked salmon. We shall see. I also want to try smoothies. I haven't liked them in the past, but there's always the chance I'll develop a taste for them. Who knows?
The plants on my porch continue to not be dead. The baby sweater is coming along nicely. Plans for today are up in the air, but I'm anticipating something nice and relaxing.
