I suspect my days of having a nice hot weekend brunch are rapidly drawing to a close. I woke up today to what is, all things considered, a very pleasant spring day but it was so warm that I knew if I had a cup of hot tea it would make me want to shoot myself.

Granted, that sensation was not helped by the fact that my body chemistry, I suspect spurred on by the heat, decided to take a rapid plunge downward and send me into the realm of stomach-churning headaches before I could get my meal out of the oven. I ended up putting the intended brunch in the fridge for later, swallowed some cold cereal so as to not make things worse with hunger, chased it with some Exedrin and then went back to bed.

The nap was sweet as both kitties seemed to get that mom wasn't feeling well (or, depending upon what cat you ask, that their child wasn't feeling well) and did their best to make things better by snuggling up against me, purring, and offering me the occasional bath.

It must've worked since I was able to wake up about an hour later and go for a walk to the library like I originally intended. (I bagged some other plans for today though, just to be on the safe side.)

While at the library I stocked up on some books that I need for an upcoming story assignment. During checkout I did manage to avoid the urge to give in to pretention and say something like "You know I'm a writer and I'm getting these books for research, eh what?" Or words to that effect. (Note how I do not avoid doing such pretentious things here, now, to you guys. This is because I have little willpower, and also because if you haven't figured out by now how pretentious I am I'm not sure what else will clue you in.) (My occasional desire to spell "theater" as "theatre", perhaps.) (Anyway.) In my admittedly limited defense this is the first time I've had a story assignment which required a little library research, so I'm geekily amused at the milestone of it all.

Plans for tonight have been boiled down to the simpliest possible. I still need to write up that thing for my parents' wedding anniversary tomorrow, so currently all actions are done with the goal of keeping that headache from returning and messing up my ability to write. At the moment I'm back in cool and comfy clothes, with a glass of cold water on one side and a huge salad on the other, complete with grilled chicken strips from Trader Joe's which I swear must be dusted with heroin as that's the only way to explain how addictive they are.

Later on, hopefully, the writing for my folks and then perhaps a nice cool bath with my recent library acquisitions.

I'll be delivering this to the folks tomorrow, but I figured I might as well put a copy in the ol' LJ just for the heck of it.
