Fannishness
May. 10th, 2005 03:10 pmI have not stopped dork dancing over seeing Serenity. If I was going to get in to a sneak preview this is exactly how I'd want to do it. With friends, being silly, and just quivering with fannish squee.
Which isn't to say it wouldn't also be nice for a third sneak peek that was closer to my house, mind you ;)
For those who do not have tickets, apparently you can get some on Ebay for Oh My GOD as a starting bid. I realize the scalping thing sucks, but OTOH I can't help but be amused by one listing where the seller attempts to speak fan by calling it the "Big Dang Movie". This reminds me somewhat of the time my Elder Brother tried to score some Grateful Dead tickets and only belatedly realized that going to the concert while dressed in a suit was not the best way to avoid looking like a narc.
My dorkish delight is now existing hand in hand with my terror that I will hit traffic on the GWB and be locked in Manhattan for all eternity. Worse yet: arrive at the theater at 9:59... or worse still, 10:05. I am dealing with this with denial and breathing into a metaphorical paper bag.
On more positive news, I'm going to do my level best to rewatch all of Firefly before the movie. I don't want to miss out on nuances and jokes just because I'm blanking on the references. This should be interesting, as I had a hard time appreciating the show when it was on due to the A) assholes at Fox who were doing their level best to fuck it up and B) assholes at Fox who's level best resulted in Angel getting fucked around with and y'all know I don't stand for people messing with my baby.
But now that all that's over and done with I can sit back and rewatch and take it for what it is. Maybe I'll even do my part to pimp by doing episode comments, like I used to do for Angel.
You know what I need? I need a Simon icon with a caption of "Reluctant Browncoat".
Also a pony. And a transporter device.
